Hey all, I just joined this forum today after purchasing my first modern-era 911 two weeks ago!
I've had a modern Porsche before (2001 Boxster) and a 911 before (1970 T hotrod with a 2.7 RS-spec motor and S suspension), but never combined the two. The Boxster left the stable a few years ago, and I recently decided to cash out of my longhood rather than be greedy and risk the bubble bursting. I thought "I have a nice e46 convertible, I can be happy with that for a couple of years"... apparently I lied to myself, I bought the 997.2 a week later!
My new car is a C2S "launch car", in Porsche Racing Green with a Sand Beige full leather interior. Although I find the beige to be tough to keep clean (my Boxster was Lapis Blue/Savannah Beige), the colour combination is very understated, yet rare in a 911 and very classy. I prefer the "sleeper" look, but also appreciate having something different than the white/silver/black that most sports cars are.
This car actually has a bigger set of options than most of the other Cs@ launch cars - it has PDLS, full leather, ventilated seats, colour crest wheel caps, and carbon fibre multifuntion steering wheel on top of the typical launch model PRG/SB standard leather/PDK/SC+/BT/XM/UAI/Power comfort seats/floormats/ 19" CSII.
Although these options made the car outrageously expensive when new, they are actually really nice options to have. So far, I've put about 1000kms on the car, and am really enjoying it. I haven't gathered up the courage to try "launch control" yet (seems pretty abusive), but have been pushing the car harder each day.
I've been an active participant on Pelican, 986forum, e46F, and ZHPMafia over the years, and hope to do the same here...
cheers!
