Hi porsche nuts,
Hi porsche nuts,
Hi to all wherever you stay, its a real comfort to see theres so much info being supplied.
Id be a nut myself to choose any other porsche forum. Thanks for acceptance and look forward to years of mind exchanges.
My 2003 cayenne s, my first porsche badged car so new to porsche engineering, though ive sympathetically restored classic daimler and jaguar series 3 v12's, mercs and bmws and a few other top marques for about 30 years or more so can use a spanner.
My 2003 cs was purchased for £1500 due to the dreaded ticking/knocking issues up to 2000revs.
Ive already tried lucas oil stabilizer with a sacrificial 8 litres of premium 10w 40 oil, plus a new filter,to replace the 9 litres of very thin, black, burnt odoured oil that came from the motor. I ran it around for a couple of weeks, then engine flushed the 10w 40 and have put in another 8 litres of mannol 5w 30 fully synthetic, again with a new filter.
Theres not a single fault showing or warning lights of any kind. It performs impeccably, no smoke, hesitation etc etc and has had a fortune spent on it, with all the work by porsche specialists, one of the receipts alone is for £5,800, the rest of the invoices of which theres many hover around and above the £100 at the least, so someone has really loved this car until the last owner whom im afraid must have run it with no maintenance whatsoever, plus the ticking/knocking noise is a deal buster either way..
Its got the air suspension option which so helps with work on the underside..
I will put some pictures up very soon. It was in silver but looks very different now, very unique, one of a kind design that i think really suits the cayenne. I created and finished the new design for under £150, believe it or not, i would not lie. I hope to be able to drive it with the ticking/knocking noise for some time to come as the separation of the top from the bottom end is just not a financially viable option for me.
Are there any cs owners who have driven a considerable amount of miles with this loud ticking/knocking.??
Ive really tidied a fraying example to a neat vehicle, apart from the noises.
However the fantastic bose system drowns it out pretty easily, so only people outside will be privilidged to the irritating ensemble. Well fingers crossed im here for the ride.
