Sam here, new to this forum but been around Porsches for years, have a 928S4 manual, 997 convertible, 912...im on Rennlist and other forums.

Bought a 997,1 carrera convertible with 90k miles, beautiful condition, mint blue paint and fresh interior, dry undercarriage, etc...Shipped it to Jersey.
a week later its at the shop, might need to tear down the engine, bore scoring...oh well. Bought it sight unseen, fell in love with car...was sent a video of car running, when warmed up. Blue puff of smoke on left exhaust when cold starting, sooty left tail pipe and loud clanking sound (piston slapping i believe). Didnt do a PPI, i know, i know...
If im lucky, it could be a tensioner or AOS oil...I doubt...Put my stethoscope and cylinders 4 and 6 sound loud...might go 4.0 pistons if i end up tearing the engine down...
Lets see what the results come back after a bore inspection...

Anyway, wont be my first or last project...
Ill drive my other Porsches meanwhile.
