VR GT-R Prepped for SEMA

SEMA is the same time every year. We all know it, but some how, some way, everything is last minute. But we all love pressure, so we push through to get it done. Our friends over at Capital Forged Wheels wanted to have a feature car at the show that would stand out. This year we expect there to be alot of GT-R's, EVO's, and STI's. For you American buffs, probably Chargers and Challengers will round out the usual suspects. So we went to work.

You can view all the installation pictures here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/gallery/browseimages.php?c=362

First for the GT-R we needed to give it a good stance. 2 things that are always terrible on any stock car are the wheels and ride height. We hooked up with Eibach to install one of the first sets of Eibach lowering springs. These springs lower the front 0.8inches and the rear 0.5inches for a good clean stance. The installation on the fronts was very easy and the rears took some more time as we had to pull out the rear seats to access the strut bolts. Here are some installation pictures.

Next our friends at Cobb Tuning hooked us up with the new AccessPort for the GT-R. This ECU flasher comes with 2 maps and takes literally 5 minutes with a plug and play device to the OBDII port. We did a before and after dyno which showed a gain of 30 horsepower and 30ft/lbs of torque! Our car runs on 91 octane. The car comes stock with 480 to the crank. Our car ended up with 462 AWHP on our Mustang Dyno which reads very low. With a 25% drivetrain loss, that is 577 HP to the crank!

Getting back to our main vehicle sponsor, Capital Forged, they hooked us up with some 20x9.5 and 20x10.5 wheels and our friends at Pirelli Tires got us these 255/35/20 and 275/30/20 PZero Tires to run. Our goal is to paint the car flat red with black accents so we had the wheels done in this color theme. The 3pc wheel features a 4inch rear lip an a 2inch front lip. The lips are flat black and so are the insides of the spokes. The face of the spokes are flat red. The wheels turned out well and will be very different once the body is updated.

Lastly before we wrap the car in our Japanese WWII Fighter Jet theme, we added probably the hottest exhaust we have ever seen. Meisterschaft full Titanium Exhaust system with Stainless steel mid pipes. The rear mufflers weighs only 7lbs!!! Beautiful sectional welding, burnt edge tips, and flex joints for a proper fit. The exhaust added a great muscle tone to the car. Stay tuned as we will be doing an after dyno once we are back from SEMA.

We will have 1 more update on the car before it leaves with the new look. Keep up to date on our Project GT-R by visiting our project car section here - http://www.vividracing.com/forums/project-gt-r/

Is this 'wrap' a fad ? Just curious. What happens to the paint when you take it off ?

wheels look nice on their own, cant wait to see how they match the wrap that will be put on, looking forward to the pics

exhaust looks sick! even though its just for cosmetics, the sectional welding looks really cool, even though its a huge waste of time (i feel bad for their welders lol), it definetly sets it apart and gets your attention.

"With a 25% drivetrain loss, that is 577 HP to the crank!"

lol.......awesome power but the GTR has about a 10% drivetrain loss (as explained by nissan with all the technology they put into the tranny/drivetrain)...is that 25% a typo?

for example...... stock you dyno'd 430awhp, which is dead on 10% less than the factory 480 crank figure.......your new 462awhp would show about 513-515 at the crank, not 577 right?

either way, 462awhp is a monster, especially with just a simple plugnplay upgrade.

the exterior wraps have been around for a long time, originally for marketing purposes (advertise your business on your vehicle) but lately has become a trend in custom cars......you can change the color of your car or try out crazy new graphics/colors that you might have otherwise been scared to try, and also protect your original paint at the same time. properly applied wraps come off without hurting your paint, and can last many years, and cost $2-4k, whereas a new quality paintjob costs $5-15k for highend cars, and its permanent......atleast with a wrap you can enjoy your new color for a few years, then change your mind and go back to your old color.

30hp increase? i'd expect more from an exhaust and a cobb stage 2 with the new 1.08 maps...

(i'm only commenting, because i've watched this - and i'm getting a similar setup)

unless you're not using the latest map...

Once it comes back from SEMA, we will be stripping it down to redo the interior and exterior as well as some other stuff. Here are some concept drawings.

That would be cool! We have custom intakes, intercooler pipes, ypipes, and modifying turbos. We want 650 crank. let me know and I can schedule yours the same time to make it easier.
