Super Silver paint option worth 3K?
Super Silver paint option worth 3K?
I've heard that the newer GTR's don't have the same paint issues as the older ones but I'm curious if the Super Silver option is truly worth the 3K upgrade?
Would love to hear owners of both the Super Silver as well as other standard colors feedback.
Specifically interested in long term observations, not just from someone looking at them on the lot.

Never looked at a GTR at a dealership or in any great depth, but if you want an opinion I'll give you one. They have been chasing the Porsche Turbos since inception....Super Silver seems like Nissan's answer to Porsche's GT Silver and I believe the extra charge for a "Special Color" is about the same. They are just trying to make you feel like you getting or ordering something special and unique. Its still silver, just a little brighter. No difference in quality or actual application...same assembly line... IMO...

GAM3OVER: So there ya go! Opinions that matter and those that don't..ie mine...
Although could still be the same process just hand polished afterward to give the extra shine and smoother finish to the touch upon delivery.

Thats cheap compared to what Saleen Performance would charged for their special colors. The "Extreme Rainbow" was $11k, "Beryllium Orange" and"Liz Stick Red" were $18k on the Mustangs and $42k on the S7 Twin Turbo.

I think the SS brings out the lines best in the car. Worth 3K if this is your favorite color in this car for sure. I bought mine in SS. The issue is touch up and repaint in case of accident and I would make an effort to research shops that may be able to do a quality job fixing your upgraded color. Clear bra is strongly recommended. The car is a no brainer imo in this color as long as you can fix it.
I might be qualified to speak on this topic.
I had an 09 SS GTR and now own a Pearl White 11 GTR. Within the first 3 months of owning the SS car, someone smashed the passenger side window in an attempt to steal something from inside the car. Most of the damage was inside but there was a 3 inch scratch on the passenger side door (as glass fell over the side of the car). In the end I decided against painting the door (even a partial paint was out of the question) as the paint shop I trust here in TX said they would never be able to perfectly match the color. Due to the fact that it's essentially a base coat, silver coat, clear coat, metallic coat and another clear coat process, they simply couldn't 100% guarantee my satisfaction. I bought some touch up and just barely dabbed the touch up paint on the car but it was UGLY to put it mildly. The paint in the touch up was far from a match and from that point on I swore to never buy another SS GTR. That is my 0.02

I have a SS. I normally buy black but the SS really looks amazing on this car, esp at night when light reflects off the paint. It looks like a liquid metal. I felt it was worth the 3k. In any case, I think the GTR looks good in all colors.
Yeah I know, but I'm not going to stress out over it. I wouldn't change the color if I could. Silver is always hard to match, esp. this one from what I have heard. I'll probably only keep the car a year or two anyway.
not red IMO
I used to feel this way, until the Black Edition... I think I'm going to get a red BE. It looks awesome with the Black rims, and the red interior... man... Happy thoughts...
