OIL in transmission and Diff

Hi, I have to change oil in transmission, it was overheated 5 times by previous owner.

My car GT-R MY 2011

Nissan service asks 1000€ for it.

Can I use other oil than NISSAN OE? Please advice.

Same question regarding oil in differencial. That change is not so expensive but still 200€

Thank you

trans and diff service

Because you said it was overheated , I would just take it to the dealer and pay up for service to keep you warranty in force. Unless you have an extended warranty, it will be the only time you have to pay more than it is worth , the dealer is the gateway to future warranty issues . A new trans is 20,000 big ones and you may have already suffered damage .

Define overheated? Are you suggesting over 280F or 138C?

Because that usually implies track use.

OEM can be found relatively inexpensive in some parts of the world (we can get it for about $55/qt). But, yes there is an Australian company that puts some stuff out.

You can use other fluids (Pentosin, etc...), as long as the viscosity is similar. I'm not 100% sure exactly which ones others have used, since I stay with OEM. I know that Willall is another fluid that has found its way around GT-R circles.

Perhaps asking this on a GT-R specific forum may help with the responses.

Thanx. I called my friend from Yamaha team regarding that issue. He is the owner of the best transmission service in Poland. He told me I do not have to use Nissan OE oil to keep transmission in perfect shape. He will change oil and service my transmission plus some extra parts tobprotect it in future. He explained we have to put some protectors inside becouse with high HP some part unlocks in tranny and than it has to rebuilded or exchanged for new one.

the additive could be friction modifier. it is usually in the fluid already. redline is a good fluid choice
