Good body shop, Porsche experience?

I recently came home to discover my Porsche (996tt) had been broken into and damaged. So now I'm dealing with police reports and insurance companies, which as we all know sucks. So aside from the thought that I will be without a car for many months, I'm trying to decide who would be qualified to work on the car. I need a lot of interior pieces replaced and and new front bumper. Does anyone have any recommendations for shops in the bay area/san francisco area? I appreciate any advice. Also, is it possible to have them substitute an aftermarket bumper for the stock one since it has to be purchased anyway or is that wishful thinking? Not a major concern as I just want the car fixed at this point, but it would be nice. Thanks

I would take it to a Porsche Certified paint shop, as all the work will be completed to Porsche spec. I would be worth the trouble to have the car transported as I don't think there is one in Modesto.

The "certified" thing is WAY overrated... I've never found 'porsche specs' on body repair, to the extent they will tell the shop how to do the work or even what materials to used..it is more of a marketing deal.

Best thing is to find out who is doing Mercedes in town, other high end cars.

I actually had some work done by Walt Stickel up in South Sacramento... he does A LOT of the german cars, lots for Niello and Von Housen.

On the bumper, yes- your insurnace will pay you $x to fix the car- you chat with the shop and say "I want to change the bumper.... the estimate we did lists a skin at $3890, I'd like to use that for this other one" (AMounts are made up, you get the idea.)

Bummer on the break in... no garage? Shudder the thought.
