i like safelite. they do good work and can even come to you to do the job. Note: I've only brought my daily drivers (audis, toyotas and what-not) to them thus far. Not sure how they do with high-end cars.

how much did they charge?

a windshield crack is a windshield crack. I wonder if they charge more for a Ferrari versus a Hyundai.

hit up their site: safelite.com

it will give a quote online and even try to set up the date/time/location best for you. The price will vary based on the car and special glass options (as applicable). If it's just a crack (smaller than a dollar), you're right...it shouldn't really matter too much what kind of car it is; all my references above are for the full windshield replacements.

i had safelite replace the windshield on my wife's suv. that guy did a good job. then i had them do a repair on my bmw for a small chip. crappy job. that small chip spread like a spider. although it hasn't spread any further than 2" and it's been over a year now. depends on the person you get i guess. a repair is free. your insurance will cover it.

safelite's probably the safer way to go. We've used them on several occasions and their work seems to be consistent. As for a Ferrari windshield, yes, it costs a lot more. However, if you have an easy deductible, it shouldn't matter to you.

Elite Auto Glass in Danville is very good but not sure they service your area.

Ferrari windshields really require a specialist. If yours is a Ferrari I'd call Frank Zucchi in Livermore. He is a factory trained Ferrari body person who is exceptional.
