Advice for Track days
Advice for Track days
hey guys, i live in San Francisco. What are the organizations that sponsor track days in this area (ie. Sears Point, Thunderhill, Buttonwillow, Laguna Seca).
I have a 2004 911 turbo x50. any advice as to what performance options you would recommend? more interested in handling, tires, etc not so much power upgrades. i plan to drive the car to the track.
thanks!

you can go to motorsportsreg.com and find all the events sponsored by various groups like Hooked on Driving, PCA, POC, Lotus Club, Trackmasters and Speed Ventures...or you can join a private club like CFRA (Checkered Flag Racing Association)...depends on whether you want to race fender to fender of just do DE...all of the groups offer instruction if you are new to tracking...get your safety options first...2005 Snell Helmet, proper seat, roll bar and harness/hans...make sure you have a good corner balance and alignment and enjoy yourself
Get a SA2010 helmet from apex performance (site sponsor, 15% discount)
Don't worry about track tires or setup for your first DE. Just make sure your fluids (engine, brake, coolant) are all up-to-date and you pass your tech inspection.
Pickup some wide blue painters tape and camera.
