Porsche World Roadshow in SF

Had a chance to go up to the Porsche Roadshow in SF and test drive some cars. I'll be back up there tomorrow to do the Performance Course. Here are a few pictures:

Do you have to pre-register for this or can I drive up tomorrow and get behind the wheel?

You are suppose to pre-register with an invitation code from a dealer (or corporate). When I registered, it looked like each code was specific and could only be used once.

However, for today, it did look like there were some no-shows. At least for the test drives (like a little longer version of a dealer test drive), the guy at the counter said they were accommodating walk-ins as available due to no-shows. The test drive cars were 911, Cayman, Boxster and Panameras. I'm not sure how it works for the Performance Course though -- since that's more involved (3 hours) with an initial "classroom" session. I'd bet that they don't have as many no-shows there. I'll know more tomorrow and can send you an update. The SF event runs through Friday.

Been there too, great event! for the first time i could really have a side by side comparison between most of the Carrera models to the cayman, the cayman really feels different and better to me.

I really liked the Cayman (especially the Cayman R). Definitely felt different to me -- but not necessarily better or worse. Mid-engine cars are going to feel much different -- much easier to toss around the track and the lighter weight helps with the feeling of quickness (I will note that the only spinout I saw was with the Cayman ). For the 911s, you have to drive them differently -- and the feeling of power and being able to plant the rears to the pavement just can't be beat.
