Pinks - All out
Pinks - All out
OK, I know this is very last minute. I have 2 tickets for Pinks - All out in Englishtown tomorrow. Starts around 9am and goes on all day. The seats are in the reserved section (near the starting line). Whoever want's em' can have em' if they pick em' up. I'll see if anyone at Cars & Coffee wants the tomorrow too. Hate for them to go to waste.
if you've never been, don't worry, you didn't miss much.
Put a client into the show last year (pro driver, was told to "bring a 8 sec car"). The group that built the car did it for fun, and with the thrill of going on TV, ended up sinking $25k of their own money into the car.
So we show up and the event communication doesn't exist. We're directed all over. The crowd isn't exactly the type where I'd feel safe leaving my car unlocked around. THe host was a total a$$, and everything was all about his ego all day. The bickering and bargaining you see on tv is really 20+ minutes each time on the track with Rich Christensen telling people what to say, not really mediating and actually bossing people around (you hand over a signed pink slip before the event and if you don't follow their rules, they just take the car and kick you out). The track was dangerous that night with both cars barely able to go down the track without hitting the wall (track was too cold for these speeds). He insisted they go out again (both drivers are NHRA pro's and agreed it was suicide to race), both cars slid sideways across the finish line...oh, and did I mention the finish line is where they decide to put it for better filming...it's not actually at 1/4 mile, it's about 50 yards before that. We didn't figure that one out until we watched the footage on TV.
After everything we went through during the day (we had to be there at 9 am, they didn't finish filming until after 10pm), they cut the episode and showed it under the "crybabies" special...2 minutes of coverage at best, and they edited it to look like the drivers were big babies that didn't know how to race, and not that the track and promoters were unprepared and the weather and temps made it unsafe.
I really felt bad for the crowd because there was often and hour of downtime inbetween cars actually running their engines and nothing else to do. It's not a good live show.

please tell me you didn't pay more than $10 for them! It's usually the track that has the rights to sell the tickets but since they're filming it and they want full bleachers in the background, they keep the price really low. Onsite they were charging $10/head at the gate for general admittance.
Much better racing to watch live, come out to the grand am race this weekend in Millville: http://www.wotmarketing.com/invite.pdf
general admittance tickets for sunday are $35 at the gate.

$35 each for the "reserved" seating. Oh well......I know better for next time.
Not 100% sure what the plans are this weekend yet, but going to the race could definitely be a possibility. Something different. And I agree, there's nothing like watching a race live. Last year we went to the AMA Superbike races down @ VIR and had a blast. Amazing to see how those guys handle the bikes at 180mph+

Moto-ST race on Saturday. One of my clients is Michael Himmelsbach, currently riding the #1 plate with Aprilia Lloyd Brothers factory team. I can set up an intro to the team and tour of their garage/paddock area if you want to bring the kids.
$35 Saturday or Sunday, $45 for both days, tickets can be purchased at the gate if needed. Grand Am testing on Saturday but tehir race isn't until Sunday.
