lol! well, you can always hang out at a starbucks for a bit. also, people arrive early at bremerton anyway. some up to an hour early to get all set up, etc. so you can always go a bit early. or...drive out there...take a little nap in your car while you wait for the others to show up......surf the net with wireless....etc.

or....just wait for the next one. i think it's in feb. =)

best of luck!

Yep, its a great learning environment. With reduced traction its easier to find the limits of the car and walk that line. Doesn't necessarily have to be too brutal on the tires and brakes as speeds stay low but you will get a ton of seat time. I'm on the last breath of last seasons tires so I'm going to give them a decent farewell. Its a shame that sunset is so early as the course that they set up at the end and run until dark is a lot of fun. As drivers head home, you can have it almost to yourself towards the end. Last year I think I had to turn my headlights on to get that last run in.

Forecast is for temps in the low 40's in the early morning so shouldn't have to worry about ice. I can't wait.

Bremerton PCA Winter Skills Event Review

Overall, this was a great event. Well run, good people, good food, bad weather.

I think this was a great way to start off the coming driving season. It was a big learning day for me as I was in my first front engined car that I have ever owned. Though admittedly I did own a truck once, but that's not a car, is it? Anyway, big difference in understeer between a mid-engined or rear-engined car and a front engined car.

We did five events: Skid pad, Figure 8, Slalom, Autocross, ABS experience, and Avoidance maneuver. Those last two (for those that are counting) were combined at the same event station.

My biggest round of applause is to the "corner workers" or "cone ********" as they battled the elements so that we could all enjoy a safe, fun, learning environment and they really made the event a success. Seriously, from a driver's point of view (see my eyes were up) you all are awesome!

I look forward to more events with the club this year. I feel safe with these drivers.

Nice to meet you all, too!

Peter, Jim, Robert, Bill, et al.

See you,

Bleu

That would be me, it totally sucked! I did tech, stepped in a deep puddle, & got soaked, then stood out in the wind & rain for 6 hours. I was cold to the bone & shivering! My last station was the Auto-X, & there was not place to stand but in a puddle...

Anyway, it got the GF out, she had a OK time, she felt it wasn't "novice" enough for her. They told her to "hit the apex" her reply was, "what's a apex?"

We didn't stick around for the open track time, we just wanted to get home, change & shower...

I think I remember you. Yellow EVO? I was the red SLK next to your car.

Thanks for supporting the event!

I was so bummed out. I left at 5:00 in the morning as I live north of Seattle and got about 30 minutes down the road and had a blinking CEL and the car starting missing badly. Had to call down and tell them I couldn't make it. When I got home I checked the code (PO304) which was for the 4th cylinder misfiring. Then it dawned on me that I had stopped just before it started misfiring and had sprayed down my car at a carwash. I had blown some water into the intake (at 5:30 in the morning I don't always think clearly). The next day the car was fine. Glad you all had a good time and I'm sorry I missed out on meeting some of you.
