2004 996 GT3 at Barrier

Hello all,

Does anyone have any info about this GT3 sitting at Barrier? It's been there for over 90 days now, silver, 20k miles but CPO.

It's a 2 owner from the SF bay area in CA. It was then auctioned off to Barrier Porsche in Bellevue.

I am on the verge of purchasing this car but hoping the community here had more info, thank you!

If its CPO you shouldn't have any problems. Dunno about the price though.

The deal on the table is...

$71,500 for the 996 GT3

$73,500 for my trade (07 997 C2S)

But I'm looking at another GT3 in california, cleaner, finer example. I need to sell my C2S though... It's a 07 C2S with nav, heated seats, only 4600 miles on it. I'm the original owner bought brand new last May from Barrier motors for around $95k. Any interests?

I 've seen better 6GT3 out there. Go for the lowest miles possible.

drive your C2S to CA and trade it in and fly back...

FYI -- I did this (not on my GT3) but if you buy a car in CA you pay tax on the sale price of the car if you want to pick it up and drive it back (legally)... you do not get tax credit for your trade in...

In WA if you trade in a $40K car on a $50K car... you only pay tax on the difference of $10K

In CA, same deal, you pay tax on the $50K... regardless of your trade.

So if you do drive down, be prepared to fly back and ship the car if you want to save some money...

I was not prepared for this... so I got a lift to the airport and bought a one way ticket and the dealer ate the freight bill...

Does the $71500 include the CPO coverage?

I'm still trying to make sense of your previous "tax" post about the car in calif, awesome information btw, thank you for that insight as I'm getting more and more serious about that car in Calif.

Coincidently I have a cousin who lives down there just 15 mins from the seller's home so he went there today and inspected the car, took detailed photo's, with me on the phone walking him through the process. I just got the photo's emailed to me and the car truly is cleaner than I had originally thought.

But yes, to your question here the 71.5k from barrier does incl CPO coverage. But I'm telling you, the barrier car is "rough" at best compared to the calif car...

I'm just torn now...

Calif car is not CPO'd btw, and has reported 2 RMS failures fixed under warranty from Pasadena Porsche dealership. Now car is out of warranty. It is a 2 owner both of whom are rennlist members... (you have PM on rennlist btw )

should have mentioned that the tax stuff is if you buy from a dealer...

I think if you private party buy a car, they sign over the title and you hit the road with their plates and register it when you get home..

if you buy from a dealer and want temp tags to drive home, they have to charge you tax by law...

for no tax -- they have to have a bill of lading in the file that shows that it shipped out of state... I offered to fake the bill of lading so I could drive back and they said that it had to leave their lot on a flatbed and I was on my own without temp tags... so I considered having a flat bed take it around the corner and dropping it and making a stealth run home to Seattle... not worth the hassle if I got caught...

First of all, congratulations on buying a silver beauty! Now I'm wondering why you have your brand new car up on floorjacks? Checking out underneath?

Yes, pic was actually taken prior to purchase. Dealership let me take the car out on another "test drive"

Condition of the car is not all that bad! Better than I had originally thought, I'm quite happy

Has anyone else noticed that PJ doesn't like paying tax?
