When the light is red.....STOP!

Well, as most of you guys know, Todd's car was hit yesterday by a man that ran through a red light. The man that hit him has admitted to 100% fault and was cited by the Bellevue police for failure to yield. The damage is all on the passenger side, including the bumper, the door, and the wheels/tires. Take a peek at the back wheel especially. It's hard to see, but the white paint from the other car starts at the front of Todd's and goes all the way to the rear end.

Right now we are going through the insurance process and I'll let you all know how things are progressing. He can't drive the car, it was towed, so he's a bit bummed. The pics are from his camera phone. We have digital ones as well and I'll post those later. It doesn't look so bad in these pictures, but when you see her in person...waaahh! =*(

Everyone is doing okay and that's what we are most thankful for.

Glad to hear Todd is ok. I am sure he is very upset as I know he loves his car. Hopefully the insurance process won't be a pain and go smoothly so Todd can be out driving his car again!

You are right, it doesn't look as bad you described, but still sucks! If they fix it, you might get a full re-spray out of it!

When running a red light, it doesn't matter what was at fault, the person who ran the light is always at fault.

I would go through the other guys insurance, & don't even file a claim with yours yet. You have higher limits & more negotiating with the other carrier.

That sucks!

However, it is good to hear that no one was significantly injured.

Maybe I am a purist in this respect but, once a car is hit or significantly damaged, to me, it never really regains it's original feel.............

Am I soloing this perspective?

^^i think you're right as far as the value goes. but, with the shop we are going through, several seattle 6speeders have used them and have been more than satisfied with the results. per the insurance, there is a legal obligation to have the car fixed to be at least as good of condition that it was in before the accident. we have picture proof that ours was in great condition. they will also align it, replaced the mods that were damaged, etc.

but, i just have to remember, it's a car, it's replaceable. lives aren't.

In the meantime you can probably ask for a GT3 (or TT) as a loaner and tell the collision shop to pay attention to details when fixing the car

Tell Todd to still go see a doctor and a physical therapist even though he feels ok. Better safe than sorry.

They have to supply you with a comprable rental car as well.

Don't let Todd get stuck in some Ford Focus for 3 months.

As long as there isn't any frame damage, it shouldn't be a problem to fix it. If there's frame damage, it's time to buy a new one.
