A word of caution. I had a Dinan M3 S3R. (Supercharged, intercooled, bored out throttle bodies, bigger radiator, bigger fan shroud and fan). Initially I had heating problems until Dinan sent out a bigger radiator.

With that kind of power I went through a clutch in about 4,000 miles. Similarly modified cars are now experiencing rear floor failures, which are very expensive to fix.

Larry is right about the rear floor issue. Another friend of mine who had a S3R also had the same issues too. I'd take steps to reinforce that somehow.

And at the time all I said is he is a SC away from taking top dog...so he is the top dog now. And yes, get that rear subframe strenghtened ravi. I mentioned it on the thread from two months ago as it is a very common problem on e46 M3s, even without a SC. It should cost around $1100-1700 to get that done, but it will save you lots of headaches in the future.

Jay you're far too critical of folks at the wrong time and place at times. It's comments like this that you make that gets people riled up.

Hmm...so I said he has the best m3 in the area, and also agree that he should get the rear subframe strengthened. What did I say NOW that is critical? I think Ravi is a great guy, so if I did say something bad or critical now please pm me or better yet Ravi can post to tell me my fault...

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the great comments! I cant wait for the next drive/meet! The power is very linear! I love it!

As for the subframe, I have only heard of coupes having failures. The verts have extra reinforcement because they have no roof! Ill be fine..hopefully!

Jay, Its water underneath a bridge. Thanks for the comment!

I will be removing my cats and let my car fully adapt before i do another dyno run!

Ravi

Good to know. So you will be running straight pipes are upgrading to 100 or 200 CEL cats? Look forward to seeing the car in person...I heard it is crazy loud! Dunno if you talk to Mandeep at all, but if so ask him about the "uno pizza" video of him...

mitchelrl is infamous around these parts
I don't think his subframe is in any jeopardy, he's rocking an SMG and a vert and in the spectrum of things, he's not puting down THAT much more to the wheels. Horse Power Freaks does this as a precaution on their stage 2 and up cars I believe and Ravij isn't there quite yet =P

Actually SMG exacerbates the problem if you drive it in mode 6 as a rule. The shifts can be quite violent. You don't even need to mod the engine much to put a strain on the rear members.

I totally agree with you on this Larry. The cabrio does have some additonal reinforcement, and it is up to Ravi if he would like to or not. But with 450whp that is much more than enough to cause additional stress, and the subframe reinforcement is good insurance call it if you will for preventing major problems down the road.

Stock M3 puts down around 270whp, so 445whp is a huge jump!
