New gadget
Found it on Tire Rack while ordering some new rubber, after a flat. It’s nice to know what your tires are doing. Newer cars come with tpms fitted, but can only monitor pressure. This system allows the sensors to communicate not only pressures but also temperature. For the track or even on the street, knowing when your rubber is up to operation temp is confidence inspiring. I first saw it installed on a Cayenne at renntech. For 200 I got the full system and an extra replacement sensor. The one drawback is that whenever the tire gets removed or changed out you must be extremely careful. That’s why its good to have your own tire shop.
BTW, the new PS2’s are amazing.

That's cool! This is what I have been waiting for! The Mini has TPMS, but only has a green light/red light thing.
It's about time, they added a more useful function! This is something that I can use at the track!

If you're asking whether I took the plunge or not, I didn't the Cayman was too refined for me. I'm waiting until I can afford a GT3.
If you're asking because you think my post was useless, then I failed at making my point that I think it is cool that Porsche is incorporating these gadgets into their cars, it's not like it'd be news for members here.
Cool gadget.

My Cayman is unrefined in that it didn't come with TPMS.
Waide, does this thing tell you which tire is doing what? The tire sensors in my Infiniti only show pressure, and they aren't location specific. This device looks pretty handy. Is it removable? I don't know if I'd want it on my dash all the time.

Yes, it tells you specific pressure and temperature for each individual corner. It displays all 4 tires at once, not just one at a time. You can set it to automatically jump between the temp and psi pages every 5 seconds. It also has programmable high/low alarm points for both the temp and psi. It is fully removable and the only wire you need to hook up is for power to the display, via cigarette lighter and the unit, which has a mini usb style plug. For the pictures I took, I actually just set it on the steering column. It will be permanently mounted in the center console under the cd player/head unit. It comes with a Velcro style mount for temporary use.
If you track your car, or do autoX, knowing the tire temp is very important.

Installing the display is as simple as plugging it in to the 12v lighter outlet. To install the sensors you will need to take it into a tire shop. The tire has to be taken on at least partially off the wheel and then rebalanced. BTW the sensors do not weigh enough to affect balance. They are really universal so they will work on many different wheel types. You can also get extra sensors if you have multiple sets of wheels or one breaks. They are delectate, so having competent tire installers helps. I did my own, so it was freebie and done right. If any of you NW 6speeders ever pick one up, I can help out in the tire/sensor install.

I think it is really cool and useful, unlike most ON/OFF TPMS systems out there, I'd definitely use this at the track.
