seattle is NOT spread out (compared to sf) and the public transporation is SUCKS
(compared to private cars, i mean LUXURY automobiles)..

other than that if you stay over in downtown, everything is within 1 cigarette walking distance. :P

Yes, it is. Getting from downtown to Ballard, Queen Ann, Freemont, even Capital Hill, can take 20-40mi by car. I can get just about any where in SF in 10-20min with Bart or the Trollies. My point is there are a lot of great places in Seattle, that are out of walking distance, other then a cab you are kind of stuff to walking. Our bus system is confusing, & takes forever.

Ace Hotel is funky and hip -- but I believe that all but one room has a communal bathroom... dorm style... they do put condoms on your pillow instead of chocolate though. If you are down with the communal bathroom, it has a decent location and is priced well. Just do not expect luxury with your own bathroom...

Inn at El Gaucho is nice and above a decent steak place (El Gaucho, downtown)-- plus if you are flying solo there are some cougars (victim hunting) that hang at the bar and if you are staying at the Inn upstairs... this is as easy as Stockton to Malone for the jam

so I am told...

If you are bringing baggage then she will probably love the Inn at the Market.

Don't bother with any local strip joint -- they do not serve alcohol and "the talent" is such that you must be LOADED to enjoy... better off going to see the girls before their strip shift begins when they waitress at Joeys... at least you can get a drink and not feel like a slimy perv holding a $10 sprite, oggling "less than beautiful" snapper while you are getting more and more sober... not to mention Ricks basically in Alaska if you are drunk and downtown... the cab ride there spoils your buzz and the place is nasty...

I could not tell you anything about the night clubs in Seattle... when I used to go, pre wife/kid, they sucked when compared to other major cities (SF, LA, NY, Vegas, etc)... tons of sausage and limited decent balogna...

Come to Belltown, eat at El Gaucho, start drinks at Marjorie, continue drinks at Del Ray, end drinks at the Viceroy. Wake up, eat breakfast at Cyclops. You will have traveled a total distance of two blocks.

And thus ends the vicious cycle of my friday nights

Best hotel in town I think is the Fairmont Olympic.

Best sushi I've found in the state so far is "Tuna House" in Bellevue. Not fancy location/decor/ambiance but absolutely outstanding fish consistently. They usually have Toro that will blow your socks off.

Maltby Cafe, as Greta has said, is unquestionably the best place for home-style cooking breakfast. Plan on getting there EARLY or "enjoying" a 40+ minute wait (being willing to sit at the bar helps to reduce latency heh heh).

Best sit-down brunch is Salty's on Alki for the food & view. $$$ but worth every penny.

Nightclubs ain't my bag, baby. So yer on yer own there

Sounds like it makes sense to stay in Belltown. Dont mind walking and using cabs if theres no need to rent a car, makes life easier when catching my return flights. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Atomic- I'll definitely drop you a line in advance schedule permitting.

DDS- Always looking forward to trying new places, I'm pretty open-minded and adventurous when it comes to food.

Some great nightlife advice for a 2nd post. As I told you on TS, Andra or 1000 (not 2000 ya big yellow dummy with a huge wing) for a chic boutique hotel, Wild Ginger/Wasabi Bistro/Umi (great places to eat and people watch), El Gaucho or The Met, etc... if I'm around I'll give you the nickel tour.

Shaun, Hit up Ben for a nickel tour..him and I have a ton of fun around Seattle... Belltown (better than Pioneer Square for clubs) can be fun if you know the right places to go and know some people.

If you go to Trinity . Hit me up I have a bunch of free passes from when I threw a friends Bday and went a little crazy with the Visa. They say VIP but its not really VIP because you still have to stand in line, but you get in free. I had a bartender that hooked me up really nicely there but she got knocked up and is gone, but if you like asian women then trinity is where you should go.

If you are lookign for more clubs I can ask my friend who can tell you where are the skanks and stuff are haha. Not sure if you're single or not.

I was hoping for somewhere in Downtown. I'm always looking for good breakfast spots in Seattle. Wasn't thinking town....But I guess I could have thought outside the box. We were discussing Seattle Nightlife.

That's along drive from "Wiscousin" for breakfast though

Make the drive once and you'll understand ... LOL

Do NOT bring an exotic -- their parking is TERRIBLE.
