yeah.. but its pretty important to keep the rent costs down.. and unfortunately going up to the east side would cost a ton more

I don't do enough work on my car to warrant a monthly membership. I'd be interested in renting some space once in a while though. Especially with a lift.

if people don't use it enough for a monthly membership, do you think you would offer a "charge by the hours of use" or something like that? or renting space for extra tires, wheels, etc? or even storage space for extra cars, etc? i'm really liking your idea redgoat! =) you've really got something great in the works!

james...i'm thinking it's a membership fee not just for working on cars though. i think it's also a car enthusiast hangout as well. watch some games on tv.....have some pizza....beers.....talk car stuff.....etc. so social network and cars i think. sounds like redgoats making it a car enthusiast hot spot! so get some pool tables.....air hockey.....dart boards....poker table and we'll move in! hahaha!

We have discussed the possibility of everything that has been mentioned. Precisely what you have said is what we hope to do, unfortunately we cant guarantee what all will be available until we find the exact location. But WE would love to have those oppurtunities available to the members, and lift space available for rent for those that dont want to purchase a membership.

Its going to be like a car version of a country club

I have talked to a couple people recently that are batting this idea around...

one was thinking of a credit card operated lift -- like a swiper that cahrges $5 per hour etc... I thought that was pretty cool.

The last guy I talked to about it was looking for space in Tacoma -- he wants a couple lifts and a wash bay. Secure building with member card access 24 hrs, cameras everywhere, credit card activated lifts, and an internal partition system so each "member" has his/her space etc..

He was not realy discussing the social aspect as much -- mainly storage and a place to work.

I like both ideas but I am not joining/using a place in Tacoma -- too far from me... and to be honest I might just continue to struggle in my own garage as opposed to going to Kent as well.

The idea is intriguing and there is a need for a lot of people... my fear is that at $100 per month, there will be so many people that actually getting your car in to do any work will be problematic.

I would love to hear more and would consider it.

The reason we decided on $100 a month, is because our goal is to keep the membership at 20 members. Anymore and there would be crowding and scheduling conflicts. With a few bays we can easily schedule everyone.

Yes, if we had more members the cost would come down, but it would be "crowded"

^^ Depending on size, 20 members sounds pretty good, but... 20 * 100 is only $2000 a month, I don't know how you plan on running a place like that for $2000 a month.

Will it be off of I-67 by all those truck warehouses? I would be kind of iffy, Kent has some good areas.

^^ Well, to be fair, the only place that would make it affordable would be a warehouse. Why would it be "iffy"? There are some very large companies in the Kent area.

Kent is starting to become ghetto. I lived there from when I was 2 to my 10th grade year of high school. It has changed.

Kent Valley warehouse rent $$$ is not cheap... can you even rent a house for $2K per month?
