Went a drove a Mini today, and got a ticket too

The ticket wasn't in the mini though. Got it in my Boxster on 405 just north of 85th. An apparently grumpy WSP pulled me over for no front plate. As I was sitting there waiting I counted no less that 13 other cars pass by without any front plate on them. Of course the guy in the black boxster with the top down is the one who gets pulled over...

Anyways, back on topic : I drove down to NW Mini and looked at/drove a Mini Cooper S. I hvae to admit the car impressed me. I had heard they were fun to drive but until I hopped in one I didn't fully believe it. The car is quicker than I thought it'd be and also smooth. I thought i had accelerated to about 30-35 and I look down to see I was at 45. oops. The handling is pretty good but not all that I expected. I took a right hand turn just at a enthusiastic speed and the tires were chirping and trying to accelerate felt a bit unsteady. Definitely a fun car though, especially for right around $30k.

I was told they do have saturday appointments for oil changes and simple things. Major service appts are just during the week. And Mini covering 3/36 of scheduled maintenance is a nice bonus.

I did not end up ordering one though. I am not sure it'd be what I want to replace the Touareg. It would be a fun car to add on but I dont' have space for 4 cars Another small reason for not making an order is because they are adding on a dealer mark-up. It's only $695 but its still the principle of the thing. Makes me want to call the dealer near Portland and see what they're doing.

sorry about the ticket! that sucks. =( but go figure, they picked the pretty, convertible car! did you get a "fix it" ticket? i've yet to get pulled over for a missing front plate.....cross my fingers and knock on wood!

i'm glad you had fun test driving cars today though! let us know if you get a new toy! sounds like you are on a mission!

CorsePerVita is infamous around these parts
I'd think that would be an equipment violation as it wouldn't pertain to him moving am i correct on that? i would think that'd be a fix it ticket.

Maybe you should wear a long blond wig (no tickets for me - clean record, knock on wood) I told my husband I was going to the store today and couldn't help myself - took a wrong turn and headed up toward Snoqualmie Pass via Cougar Mountain and other fun roads. Had my sweet angel in triple digets quite alot - she purred like a kitten and floated like an angel. Had a smile on my face from ear to ear. Wish we lived in Germany or neighboring countries where you can really enjoy the mountains and unlimited speed limits - nothing compares to that in a Porsche.

The cop didn't say anything about being able to fix the no front plate citation. I was also cited for lack of insurance since my card in my car expired last month. I didn't realized I was on electronic copy only so I had not received a new card in the mail from my company. I now have the right one printed out and in my car so I just have to take that in and they'll dismiss the lack of insurance citation. For the no front plate I'm tempted to be an *** and argue it was reverse discrimination or something like that but instead I think I'll may try to just pay the fine with bundles of change.

see my other thread for info on my mission
