Hit and run
Your insurance company likely has a lower deductible for Hit and Runs as well. I had a $500 deductible on my last car and had a hit and run in a parking lot much like you and State Farm reduced it to $100. I had to ask for it tho. A friend who had just went through the same thing told me to make sure and ask.
So a little update on this, even though its been a long time. I called my insurance company today, and they said I do have a uninsured motorist policy, and if my the claim agent or whatever does determine that its a hit & run, then I wouldnt have to pay the deductible. I already ordered a police report, but the office I spoke with said that it will have the date of when I ordered the report... So if they do say okay, I'll probably go to Haury's Lake City Collision but they said their prefered body shop is Eastside Carstar Auto Rebuild.
its fine and dandy for insurance companies to have preferred shops but don't let them dictate where you go. They CANT do that and haury's will ensure they don't mess you around.
Yeah, I know I did wait a while, but I had some other personal issues that I had to deal with.. They said if they do determine that its a hit and run, then I wont have to pay.
Your insurance may require a that a police report be filed in order to receive coverage for a hit-and-run. You don't need an officer to fill one out - they are usually available in the lobby of your local police station. Better to do it sooner rather than later.
It's already been 15 months. I think it's already later than sooner....
Good luck with the repairs. It sounds like you have a pretty nice insurance co. if they will still accept your claim.
That sucks,,, I know,,, I usually find the place out of everyone, on the corner parking spot, but someone always find their ways to park next to mine, and very close to my car.
I really want to know why they do that,, not like those people drive a nice decent car, mostly a junky car.
