The 5D is a great camera too, but my main interest in photography is shooting wildlife (waterfowl) and you just can't beat 8fps.
I have a 1D3, great camera. I can't work out how to get it out of record separately mode (it complains every time I start it up when only 1 card is inserted). Jason couldn't figure it out either.

Regarding the record separately function, I can step you though it if you like, or it's on page 74 of the manual. If all else fails, you can clear all custom functions and that should take care of it. Of course you have to go back and set up everything else you had set up though......
Oh and my main photography work is weddings and portraits, so I'm going to need a good wide angle soon. I know I'll miss the full frame of the 5d for sure. It's about time I started investing in some more lenses though.
This camera flies for sure. It's actually 10fps and rocks for action shots.

I will try clearing the custom functions. Its probably overdue for a firmware update too.
For wide-angle, check out the Sigma 15-30 -- that's a really nice lens. It's a little bigger/heavier than I'd like, but the color is really good, and IQ very impressive for a moderately priced lens. I actually prefer it to my 24-70 f2.8L for color.
Thanks. I'll check that out. It's either that or the 16-35 L.
I looked at the Sigma lens, but it does not get low enough for me. Shooting weddings, I need something that can get to at least 2.8 for those low light shots......
