Anyone ever re-upholster a car

Anyone ever take the time to change out the color for a cars interior? If so are there people in our area that do it?

I thought Vince said he was possibly changing his 993.

I recall being at F.o.S. and having Vince say that he will never go through the trouble again.

^^^I just saw Vince's 993TT and he hasn't had it changed out yet so I'm not sure why you'd hear him say that. He still plans to have it done but hasn't said when or where yet.

The easiest way to change them out with OEM parts is to steal them out of your 993TTs.

I was going to have Carnutz do the work per Bruce recommendation. But I am told that they are going of out business soon.

do you need the alarm code to get to the 993? You'll have to move the gt3rs and new 356 cab out from underneath it to get to the car.

Or bring a ladder

He would just have to find someone else to do it. I know of a shop that can do it. I'll send that info to Vince.

Yeah, I just thought he meant that it was a pain to do. Not that the shop he had planned on using was a factor.

i've not had ours re-upholstered, but i have had our e-brake, the steering wheel and the boot on the shifter color dyed since it was looking shabby. it actually seemes to match well and holds up.

I believe that the guy I referred Vince to is the same guy that helped you out or at least his friend.

Ok I'll tell you why this has been a pain for me.
My 993TT is 13 yo with tan interior. I am not only changing it to black interior but also doing it using OEM carbon fiber parts from the 993Ts and RS. These OEM parts are very hard find and most vendor are in Europe. So communication and different time zone was a challenge. To just die the leather or replace with aftermarket parts would be an easier short cut but that's not what I want. My goal is to make the interior of this car looks as good as my Challenge Stradale. At the same time shed some weights off of the old air-cooled.

So far the CF parts I 've got are:
Upper and lower dash
Steering wheel
Shifter and ebrake
Center console
Front Seats
RS door panels
Plus OEM Carpet
Rear seats
The parts I am still looking to get are the interior quarter panels in black leather. I may have to get these re-wrap instead.

Yes it would have been cheaper to just buy an 993 TurboS. But I don't want a garage queen as these cars are too much fun to drive. Besides it's more refreshing to have a new interior and a better engine.

Hello Vincent,

A few of our customers called/emailed us this morning regarding your comment. CNC has been in business at the same location for about 14 years. We do not plan on going out of business. However, we have restructured our business to be more competitive in these economic times. Unfortunately that does entail staffing changes. Certain individuals no longer with the company seem to be spreading false statements. I hope this clears up some of the rumors floating around.

Regarding automotive interiors and upholstery in general, CNC is well known in this arena. The caliber of work from our automotive interior upholstery department has been compared to the likes of Brabus, Poltrona Frau or schedoni.

We appreciate the opportunity to earn your business and can certainly assist in your upholstery needs.

Jim Pan
General Manager

Happy Chinese New Year to those on this forum!!!
