I love Dennis and his crazy car antics. He's had some fun stuff over the years!

Ariel's has downforce from those wings, but I'm not sure about how effective it is. but the real ticket is traction control, it will put down the power with that...

here's a quote from ariel's press release:

The 500 started life as a one off special project with RS Developments in 2007 and features the Russell Savory designed 2.4 litre V8 engine coupled to a 6 speed sequential Sadev gearbox. Developing over 500bhp at 10,000rpm the supercharged engine features all alloy construction, 5 valves per cylinder and a dry sump. The gearbox will have flatshift capability, a paddle gearchange with manual override as well as launch and traction controls.

Cobra reps with 1000 HP/ton? Most weigh in at 2,200 pounds as far as I know. They would have to have 1000HP to equal this ratio. This type of power to weight ratio is insane and at a certain point, unnecessary. You will not find many tracks to utilize this power. Nice to have for bragging rights, fo sho.

I second Paul and Mark's comments above.

But wait, is that weight correct? I've never looked but an owner at ORP (of an Ariel) told me his car was 1400 lbs. How did they lose 300lbs? His car also didn't have the downforce package pictured here.

I do want an Ariel though. It'd be great to have around ORP where the rain is considerably less.

Roman, Does Dennis have the down force package on his now with the numbers 111 on the wing end caps? if so, he was there the last time I was. There were two Atoms. Winged and not winged but the non-winged car was pretty new to the sport. he was turning lap times close to mine in the exige.

I think I was about 2:02-2:03 at the end of the second day and he was about 2:05 on his fourth day driving.

I don't know for sure, Trevor, but guessing from his website photos and blog he's going without any wings and splitters. I don't know him personally but he is doing a few events out there at ORP this summer and I am signed up to drive his event on July 27 (assuming my car is ready). I agree with you that an Atom would be a supercar to drive at ORP. I am planning on getting a garage there so if you do get one and need a place to keep it (and have a spare set of keys) let me know.
