Always wear your seatbelt guys

One of our enthusiasts lost his pride and joy, 6 years in the making, and was VERY lucky to escape with his life.

Randy is a lucky, lucky man to have escaped this wreck. Drive with caution everyone, don't ever assume you have full control of a situation.

6 years of constant changes, attention to detail, all toward getting the car just how he liked it. The first couple years were relatively slow, he did the majority of the work seen on the car over a couple years, and minor changes here and there following.
The engine had quite a bit of time into it:

He has given hints of rebuilding in a fresh shell (There just happens to be another one on ebay in the same color with <20k miles - seems meant to be) but he is waiting on a few factors.

Did the car not have an airbag ? (Wondering why it seemingly did not deploy ...)

Glad to hear he survived...

I believe the airbag didn't deploy due to the side impact. The shock sensors are all in the front, where it was not hit.

Oh, and he's in his 40's

In side-impacts NOT wearing a seat-belt can sometimes result in fewer injuries. In the best of circumstances, a seat-belt offers minimal protection in a side impact compared to a frontal/offset impact.

I've routinely worn seat-belts for every trip in a motor-vehicle since 1980. It has saved my life once, and prevented serious injury once.

Very glad to hear that he made it out OK. Such a shame to have lost something that so much effort obviously went in to, but being alright after an accident like that makes for a happy ending.
