No front plate, never been stopped (knock on wood). I just smile real pretty when I see a nice officer.

Been pulled and ticketed once. Taped it to the front bumper, took a pic, went to court and they dropped it.

I have a front plate on 2 of my 3 vehicles, but not on the 996TT! However, I am aware of the law and know that I'm playing Russian roulette to some extent. I will pull out the "show car" excuse thing and see how good my luck is that day...if it inevitably happens to me.

I spend enough time driving on the Eastside that I put it on.

Back when I was out in Burien/West Seattle with work I NEVER even considered it. I somehow knew that the cops were to busy dealing with real criminals to throw up a fuss about a front plate on an Audi.

Anyone tried one of these? Finding a mount spot is probably the biggest challenge.

The look on the cops face when you assure him that you DO have a front plate and that he should check again would be priceless.

I run without a plate and like others have said, you are simply taking the risk of a ticket. It is another good excuse to pull you over.

There are 19 states that do not require a front plate, most are in the south. I just think it is ridiculous that if someone from one of these states is driving through WA, they are legal, yet we can get a ticket. So hypocritical. If it is that important, federalize the law or eliminate the requirement. Lame.

No front plate on mine or wife's car. Wife has been pulled over I have not. I also drove with an expired temporary tag for 4 months and was never stopped... lol (knock on wood!)

$124 ticket.

Front plate on the C2S and S2000 now. Trying to figure out a way to mount one on the S4 without drilling holes.

Fugly - but I don't care to be harassed any further.

I got the non motorized version of this but haven't gotten around to putting it on because there's no place to mount it on my Porsche front lip. I also bought the plate holder that screws into the tow hook hole but it's off center so I didn't like it.

I've driven for years and never gotten "cited" for not having a front plate *knock on wood*. I have one on my Range Rover because it kind of looks funny without it. My Audi A3 has the European S3 bumper which has a cutout for the wider European plate. I ordered "German" plates with the same name as my WA license plate but I've heard that it'd be less noticable if I just left it blank.

Wow, 6speed is fun and educational at the same time! Thanks Roy! I was rather surprised about the front plate law here since they're not required in CA. I guess all the exotic owners in the OC would have a riot and that's half the market right there..

Anyway you're all coming out to RTC Saturday right?! I'm supposed to be climbing Mt. Adams but I managed to "busta rib" (haha) last weekend so I gotta find another way to get my adrenaline rush. I can't drive yet (painful) but if it's still on I'll get there somehow!!

Actually they _ARE_ required in CA. It's AZ and a few other states that at the moment eludes me whom does not require a front plate.

You can't drive? But you can ride with someone, right? One of these days, I'll be happy to give you a ride in my "lowly" Turbo.

Didn't have one on my Ford Explorer when I had it for two years. Got pulled over for speeding in it and the officer didn't mention the lack of plate. Was running with the "Barrier" Oval in place of a front plate in Idaho and when I got stopped the officer didn't say anything.

BTW, anyone know if a front plate is required in ID?

EDIT: BTW, hello everyone.

Oops! Well that'll teach me to make stuff up and hope it's true. I don't often see them in OC though, I guess the cops are too busy fighting crime!

And "lowly Turbo"?! You are all so modest, really! One of these days I may just have to garage my commuter car and bring out my grandma's hand-me-down '93 T-bird, complete with smashed left turn signal and passenger-side dent where I tried to show off my parallel parking skills. Ha, beat THAT!

I might take you up on your ride offer tho' Jason if the weather cooperates and I'm not out of your way.. I'll shoot you an email or smthn. Oh and if you ever wanna drive my T-bird just let me know.. I mean, it IS your b-day and all! If you remember how to drive an automatic that is..

I was gonna ask what the fine is for no front license plate ticket here in WA.

$124!?! GD, you mean it's not just a $10 fix-it ticket (like how it is/was back when I lived in Cali). Guess I've been lucky, never had front plates on any of my cars for the past 7 years since moving up here. But will put them on now thanks to this thread (and a couple friends getting cited recently).

OT: (to lig) Jeff, you still have the S2K? I miss mine. How's the Sparco seats treating ya ?
Nice 997 btw.

Very true, and it's a primary offense. So if you're on your cell phone at the same time, in this tight budget environment for the police don't be surprised to get pulled over and ticketed!
