Wow, that is surprising to hear... the only thing I can think of, is that the car might be a consignment car. I know that I've been interested in that white/white 1987 Lamborghini Countach they have on consignment there. I know for fact that I won't be able to take that car for a test drive until I "show them the money", due to the restrictions put on it by the owner who has it there on consignment.

Not sure who you spoke with there, but talk to Shannon Low. I've bought several cars from him in the past (including when he used to work at Ferrari & Maserati of Seattle). He is a great guy to deal with.

I am stunned at some of the experiences people have had there. I have nothing but good things to say. Just three weeks ago I test drove the 08 Z06 they have with no issues. It was on consignment and I told them up front I was there for comparing with my current vette. I agree that I don't like to name drop on anyone either but I guess it helps to be friends with Ryan. Another thing that throws this out of whack is how they bring their cars down to Redmond Town Center and let people climb all over them and even schedule test drives for later that day for people interested in the car. Any dealership that sponsors track days and have employees show up on those dates to run with you is okay by me. You have to applaud the owners too for cutting back on their race car team in order to put money into the dealership to keep people employed during this downturn. Sorry to sound like a rolling advertisement but I guess I am to a point.

This issue with the consignment cars makes a lot of sense. If the owner didn't want it being driven then that would be the case, and it wouldn't be their call.

But at the same time I would hope that they would explain the scenario to you and let you know that the car was sitting thanks to a request from the owner, and not the dealer failing to take you seriously.

Like most dealerships, they profile
I hate to say it but that is the reality
If you are perceived as a tire kicker, then no test drive for you.

Off subject, but since you are a dentist, how hard is pulling teeth?

LOL, MUCH easier than getting a test drive. Sometimes it takes me longer to administer the local anesthesia (i.e. give the shot(s)).

Sorry - PPL - are stealers! I bought my p-car from them. It was the worst experience ever and I dealt with the so-called saleman of the year

I would never go back and never reccommend them. I was looking at one of Roys lambos which was sitting at PPL. Kevin (works for Roy) called up one of the salesman at PPL and setup a appointment for me to go and look over the car and drive. I got to PPL on the selected date and time. First the salesman pretended he did not know Kevin, so I called Kevin and the saleman changed his tune - dick! I any event, he told me that I didnt need to drive the car because its a lambo and thats all I needed to know

Then he told me lets do all the finacials first - so I gave him the finger and told him to **** off! I knew this **** was gonna happen.

+1. The experience will just get worse from denying you a test drive. It will be nasty when it gets to financials and downright offensive post-sale. Twice shy having been bitten by the same "salesman of the year".

And their consignment program is a blackmail scam - take your car and fees then come back to hammer down your "reserve price" shamelessly with strongarm tactics.

Customer is king, take your business elsewhere - there are plenty who are better - and run as far away as you can from PPL.

Keep in mind that "salesman of the year" in the car business usually means the most revenue to the dealership. You should be asking for the worst salesman on the lot

I own the car in question, 1999 Red Diablo Roadster, as well as several other of MY CARS are on the PPL lot...on consignment....

If you are intrested in a car that is MINE, all you need to do is call ME or KEVIN and I will make sure to meet you there and we can go for a test drive with me...

intrested parties of course...no joy riders..

Thanks

Roy Cats

I'll bet it was as simple. He sized you up as not being serious, or not ready to buy, & just didn't want to spend the time with you. A lot of car sale guys are like that. If you are going to "waste" their time, they have no time for you.

I hate to say it, but how did you dress, & want did you drive in? They do size people up. They do treat you better if you look like you have $$.

I've been to PP a few times, had about 4 cars PPI'ed from there. Yes, I could get a test drive with the salesman, & they were over priced, & all needed work that did not justify the overly high price. They had a beautiful Yellow C4S there, that I just wanted so bad, but it was almost $10k to high, & needed about $6k worth of work. We just could not make the deal happen, it was a consign car.

There a used car lot, & you will get a different experience almost every time you go there.
