NW shops doing L&N Upgrades?

Are there any Seattle/NW shops doing the L&N IMS upgrades? Do you have personal experience with this?

Thanks.

Perhaps if I knew what you're talking about I could help. Does L&N and IMS have anything to do with cars?

I’m sure any shop that works on Pcar engines can help you out if you just mediate between them and L&N. Barrier could probably do it, Cantrell, Max rpm etc. I don’t know what mileage your at but there is a lot of labor involved. Are you talking about the upgrade, or retrofit?

The upgrade requires the engine case to be opened up. I wouldn’t even bother with that because the labor to open up, rebuild and replace the parts associated with this you could have just ordered a factory rebuilt engine and be worry free. Probably cheaper too!

If you were talking retrofit, typically you would do something like this along with the rms and clutch. This may give you piece of mind and maybe buy you a couple extra miles before a major rebuild but I would consider this elective surgery.

Putting alot of money into some of these major services for a 996 is a catch-22. Most people just try to get by with limited maintenance because at 80-100k your entering engine rebuild time, and unless you really want to keep the car forever it becomes a value thing. If your at the point of needing a clutch you could probably get a place like Cantrell to do the retrofit for probably an hour or two of labor since the transmission will already be out. All this can be avoided with a visit to your local dealer, maybe some test drives and you could have a fresh factory warranty.

L&N engineering = Porsche parts and services
IMS = Intermediate shaft

Larry, I think your a ways away from needing to rebuild your turbo aren’t you?
