DOT said NO!!

Well the USA goverment in an effort to keep us safe, (the DOT) would not allow the LP670-4SV OEM Factory racing harness into the USA for USA cars NOR as an option to purchase..

Well got my set in today, via a good frined in Europe..hope to have them installed this weekend on my LP670-4SV White #12 car. Hardware and mounting bolts/points are the same on ALL car, USA and Euro..will bolt right in.

LOVE them!!

The only issue with 4 or 5 points is the added stress on the head in the instance of an accident....hence the harms unit in racing. Otherwise, I agree, more points in a seat belt arrangement keeps you glued to the seat more.

Head And Neck Support

HANS device. Not harms.

And the three point belt is no more gentle on your head and neck than a 4/5/6 point. In fact, most luxury cars are going to feature explosive pretensioners that will pull you into the seat HARDER in the event of an accident. Street cars have airbags that help slow forward movement of the head.

The HANS device is used based upon the massive G-Loading in auto racing accidents and the insane deceleration rates. Airbags just can't deploy properly. You're going from fast to done from significantly higher speeds. The device significantly limits the ability of your head to snap forward without pulling your shoulders with it. Effectively distributing that force across your upper body. It would be awesome for preventing neck injuries in street car accidents. They just can't talk us all into wearing helmets and HANS devices all day. And that might kinda make your blind spots worse.

The biggest danger with those multipoint belts is submarining under the lap belt if you don't use the infamous "crotch belt."

It looks like the Lambo belts are Schroth Profi II with ASM, their anti-submarining technology. With ASM, the inboard shoulder belt has an extra fold of material sewn into it that allows the two belts to stretch at different rates. In an accident, the stitching holding this fold in place breaks, the torso rotates outward by a few degrees, and the inner hip pushes against the lapbelt more quickly, thereby tightening the belt and preventing the torso from submarining under it. This crash dummy video shows how it works compared to traditional belts.

I have these belts in my Westfield, although with the rotating cam lock rather than the pushbutton setup shown. Very comfy and well made.

-Now that is some cool stuff. I have only had Takata and Sparco set-ups in cars before and was unfamiliar with the Profi-II. Though I am partial to the cam release vs. the push button ones.

Bottom line...a multi-point will subject the head to more load in the case of an accident due to added rigidity. The air bag is supposed to deal with the added body movement on a DOT approved belt.

No choice with these belts, the locking cam is part of the sub belt

Roberga - What do you mean no choice? I didn't list options in that reply.
