V1 + Laser Interceptor + Veil

However in WA you would almost be better off just saving your money for lawyer fees and not bother with any of that.

Had the car only 3 days now and I've had cops intentionally pull up behind me every day so far. Getting really nervous

Will the radar tell me when the cops are in the vicinity even if they're not actively scanning people? For example, if I'm on the freeway and the cop happens to be 10 cars back and I just can't see him, would it alert me?

the V1 has pretty good 360 degree protection, but if cops are not actively zapping people, they are invisible to any detector. i suppose if they are just sitting around with their XorK band on, you would pick that up. i've used V1 for years and like it, but agree with remarks about false alarms. would feel better with laser jammer on board. guess i should head up to benchmark

I've experienced just that situation in my car with the V1 several times. a highway patrol car driving around (they seem to just leave their radar guns running if they're actively looking for people speeding). My detector goes crazy saying something is behind me. I can't see anything. This continues for several miles of driving so I know it is moving with me. I slow down to below the speed limit and start letting people pass me, trying to figure out where it is coming from. Several minutes later whaddaya know a state patrolman finally passes me. mystery solved. He must have been WAY back there..

The V1 is pretty sensitive. That's why they're great and a large part of what sucks the most about them. They detect those speed limit radar signs from a block+ away, so it might not even be on the street you're driving on. On my 10 mile drive to work there's 6 places where my detector goes off in the exact same way every day.

There are so many false bogeys on the Eastside that the V1 is basically worthless over there. The speed traps are in the same place every day anyway, so once you figure out where they are you know exactly where you can speed and where you can't.

Remember, the Passport has GPS to eliminate the false alerts.

Worthless?

With the V1's bogey counter, you know if there is more than one radar/laser signal. If you go by the same false every day and the V1 only shows a number one on the bogey counter, than you know it's the same false. If it shows two or more, you know that there is a new threat and you need to look out for it. Also having the arrow indicator really helps to evaluate and find the threat. I would worry that a cop could camp out at a known false spot and the 9500 wouldn't know the difference because it doesn't have the bogey counter. Either one however are worth their weight in gold. You can't really go wrong. Just don't get a cheapy. Cobra, Whistler, etc, those are worthless.

If they're pacing you, no radar will pick it up - ever. Laser or otherwise.

I think the cops radar would have to be the exact same frequency as the one on the trap to miss it with the 9500... Have to read up on how sensitive it is to same type of radar detector within one band.

Its so cool when you are driving along, and it just flashes "stored" Downtown bellevue would be a PIA to leave a radar detector on... It automatically stored all the spots for me.

I stopped by benchmarking motoring and saw the work they do... very good quality indeed. But I have never had a radar detector and laser shifter... would you recommend it if what I am worried about is not the spirited drive when going to Portland or Vancouver, but the officers profiling exotics and me been distracted and doing 80 on I5 or 405 or even 40 in a 35 zone (do not laugh as I GOT a ticket for this)...are the shifter worthwhile? isnīt it kind of obvious that a laser misreading an exotic car, likely means "shifter" on board?

thanks!

Nope! It'll only alert you if they have their radar turned on and possibly pointed in your direction.

My wife thought the same till a few days ago when I told her that the detector says "POP Alert" if they are using POP radar. She said that all these months she had been driving the car safe in the knowledge that it could detect cop cars as it kept going "Cop Alert!"

Hugo and his team did a fantastic install on the Maserati... and the baby started to pay by itself literally 7 minutes after leaving the shop... enough said!
