Why I DO Lamborghini's
Roy
You make some great points (and I'm hoping that you're planning on bringing the McLaren MP4-12C tomorrow, it's you isn't it!).
I love the fact that we can argue our passions and opinions and keep it so friendly.
I think my main point was that the stereotype of L-guy (fat, bald, hamster, gold) is as equally WRONG as the F-guy stereotype (never drives it, stuck-up with car breaking-down by side of road all the time). It's especially wrong here in the NW where a lot of L & F guys will drive their cars a lot. The only thing I've noticed that is anecdotal is that I've never seen a Lamborghini on the track personally, but I've seen dozens and dozens of Ferraris. I think this goes back to the belief (however inappropriate for today's modern L-cars) that Lamborghinis are only good in a straight-line and have no ability to go round corners. I certainly formed this opinion watching years of Top Gear and other motoring shows (and magazines). I was amazed to see a recent video of an SV on the track delivering amazing performance ... both in the straights and corners! This clearly showed me that my preconceived notions of what an L-car is capable of was subject to years of stereotyping and prejudice.
It's funny that a couple of people have mentioned Porsches. I have actually been looking at replacing my 458 with a 2010 or 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. I drove one recently and really enjoyed the experience. I'd love to be able to keep the 458, but due to some personal reasons I will not be in a position to do so.
I'm actually coming around to the Lamborghini styling and their new direction. The new Aventador is really growing on me! My dream garage at one point was a 430 Scuderia and a Gallardo spider. You then have both bases covered -- one of the most exciting track cars you can own, and also a car that allows you to cruize to E@RTC whilst letting the wind flow over your hair (note: not plural, LOL).

Roy = Agent Provocateur.
Good points back and forth for both Ferraris and Lambos. Honestly, from my POV, they are both great marques with awesome cars in both of their stables. The modern exotics are built and engineered so well, they are coming out of the box with an unbelievable combination of power, performance, and luxury. It is crazy and the deltas in all metrics are negligible at best. You say potato, I say get me a Citron & tonic. We are living in an amazing modern era of super cars that may not be seen again with the advent of oil scarcity/e-cars/environmental pressures.
I wish I had your problem of arguing the merits of either marque. I drive a 30+ year old Porsche that smells like oil and makes loud noises. But I love it all the same. That is the beauty of car enthusiasts and the gatherings at ERTC.
Paul, I support your desire to add the GT3 RS to your garage. To me, that is the ultimate daily, and would hang with any car out there at half the exotic price.

Dear RoyToy,
At the end of the day, a buyer votes for the car they want by voting with their wallet. If I'm not mistaken, Ferrari's sell more new cars than Lamborghini. I'm sure that Lamborghini, AND Ferrari would love to sell more cars, but the sales numbers are what they are. Both companies are in the business to move cars, save for a few limited editions. But even Ford has sold limited edition cars, so this is not an exclusive invention of exotics. I think that these posts are singing to the choir. Anyone reading these posts knows which car they lust after, desire, and if they have the money,—will buy. There is a higher probability that if you are in the market for a new exotic that it will be a Ferrari. Everyone has their reasons for buying the car they want,—personally I like my Scuderia and I'm very happy with it. However, I like what I'm seeing in the LP700, but if I buy one, I may have to buy a Ed Hardy shirt to go with it.
I'm not sure why you have to defend the Lamborghini brand, it has a reputation and heritage that people either want to own—or not. I disagree with you about L-car comfort; the Gallardos are not as comfortable to ride in as the 430's. The ****pit is much narrower, and the window sills are, well, silly high!
Just my two cents
PS: Wave when you drive by my broken down Scuderia on the side of the road. I'll be that 10th one in a row of rosso corsa painted cars, —with pinky in the air and drinking wine out of stem glassware

i find it interesting to see people mention that one brand of car is the "best" out there, because it's so preposterous to deal in absolutes like that.
i happen to love some ferraris, some are garish, some incredibly sexy. my vote went to porsche for a variety of reasons.
i happen to think lambos are another great german car though.

C4s
Just put 2390 miles on mine in 5 days. Only a couple hundred on the freeway. The rest were pure heaven! One 13.5 hour day as the East entrance to Yosemite was closed. Had to head to Tahoe and back down to the West entrance. Not sore one bit. In fact, probably my best drive EVER! You'll have to bury me in my P-Car! Drove my 993 to roughly 98k miles. Then my 996C2 to nearly 116k. Sitting around 41k on my C4S. Smoke em if you got em-drive em if you have em ;-). Let's tour!
The Porsche does 90% of the things Lambo + Ferrari do..but in comfort, everyday driving + a porsche is ATTAINABLE & can be your "Daily Driver" thats why i love Porsche.. (or maybe because i can't afford a ferrari or lambo..lol)

Haha! Yeah isn't that about the same time they started really getting "good" to?? LOL
I have both a P and a F car (now you got me to do that too), and given a choice, I'd jump into the P car for a long trip. To me, it's just that much more comfortable. It's the everyday supercar. I never saw your thoughts on the P car, Roy. I'd be curious to hear them since we've all heard what you think of F cars and L cars quite often.
And...another ***** I'd like to add to the mighty "L armor" is that there's no Lamborghini club drives in these parts. Most times I've seen you join us on F club drives. How come?
