This isn't always true, I had 94 Honda Accord (bought it in 99 traded in 03) prior to my daily beater 99 BMW 528i (bought it in 03 - current).

I probably spent triple $$$ on that Honda during 4yrs of ownership compared to my BMW, which has been with me for 9yrs.

It all depends, I've heard worst nightmare stories on Porsche, but our Porsche has been pretty reliable so far.

BTW, congrats on your new ride!
