Seattle Living Preferences?
Was recently promoted at work and am moving to the Seattle area next month. Despite the terrible roads I have elected to live in Seattle over Bellevue and am trying to find a nice place to live. From what I hear, Queen Anne or Ballard are some of the nicer areas in town where there is a younger crowd? I am in my mid 20's, night life is important and want to be where there is a younger crowd however most of the time I am in a suit and despise hipsters. Granted I realize that nothing will compare to living in NYC but stick me next to the area where most of the hot women live and I will be just fine. Would like to keep the budget under $2500/mo for a two bedroom. Currently I drive a Cayenne and a 99 Black Viper GTS, need somewhere secure and safe to park both vehicles. Any thoughts from those that live in the area? Thanks in advance.

-Cap hill: Best nightlife. Lots of hipsters, but still plenty of yuppies. Lots of great music/bars/restaurants.
-Ballard: Good nightlife. Kind of a pain to commute to/from. LOTS of construction right now (# of housing units in ballard is more than doubling), so rents are probably going down a lot within the next year. Seems like you could get screwed by signing a lease right now.
-Downtown/South Lake Union: Up and coming area... Amazon and Gates foundation just moved in so there are lots of yuppies, pretty decent nightlife and pretty centrally located. Lots of new condo construction.
-Queen Anne: Nice area, but not much nightlife. Lots of younger 30-somethings starting families.
I'm not really sure what $2500 will get you these days. I would think that would be enough to rent a 2br, though.

I would agree that South Lake Union seems like the best fit for your requests. Most of the crowd there is 20s-30s and working in the tech fields. A lot of restaurants/bars as well.
Plus it is close enough to Cap Hill and quick to the I-5 for moving around.

From a Real Estate guy who has lived in the city for 30 years...Ballard and Capital Hill is where most of the Hipsters are. So those are out by your criteria.
On top of Queen Anne Hill is family oriented, but Lower Queen Anne Hill is a local hot spot, and you'll always find lots of women there because it's close to downtown jobs. One telling detail is that you have 2 vehicles; Parking is going to be problematic as most of the apartments there are postwar and and 2 spots are almost nonexistent.
South Lake Union where I would look first; Close to Lower QA, and Belltown where the nightlife is. This is a newly developed area with great freeway access, and with a 2 BR you will have secure parking with decent sized spaces. Plenty of new apts. that are just now filling up.

Rolling around in a nice car in Ballard feels out of place and there's no where to park it off the street. It has a mix of hipsters and young families. Definitely pass on that (but go there for dinners on the weekends)
Just rent some nice high rise in downtown or near SLU. Big complexes will almost always let you rent additional spots, so definitely think high end high rise (plenty around).
I live in the Aspira and the garage has 3 M3's, lots of bmws audis, mercs, a GTR etc.
I've never felt like it was unsafe. Don't move to the east side or you'll be bored as a single person.
