Any of you 997 Turbo owners have spoiler issues?

I can't get it "up" anymore.

Actually, it's just one side... I've read this is an issue on these cars. Mine is a 2007, so factory warranty is caput, but I bought some sort of extended warranty, however I have this bad feeling it won't be covered.

I'm not about to shell out $2300 or whatever just to have the wing go up and down. Any advice?

It's going in to Barrier for diagnostics on the 14th... I'll know more then. I'm missing Motoring Unlimited... I need a new shop that can handle these issues.

lilindienplaya is infamous around these parts
There's a hydraulic line going to it that Ts from a pump, mine did that a few times. i had to just manually force it up on the side that didn't raise up and then it would operate fine

I tried that and it just drops back down again. I'll try it again....
Thanks! Anyone else?

I'm guessing your aftermarket wing caused/is causing this. The problem with these wings is that the threaded holes are not always perfectly lined up. This causing excessive resistance when the spoiler is articulating. I had the exact same problem on my 996TT which is why I stayed away from aftermarket wings on my 997TT.

Huh... well it did work for awhile... I'll try tightening/loosening it with the wrench again, see if everything is lined up. Thanks!

Getting it up :)

I have had issues with the hydraulic system leaking fluid and then the system will not operate correctly - look around the ram where the hose bolts to it and see if it has been weeping - your extended warranty might cover this as well - or i will give you a smoking deal on a TechArt GT Series body kit, that will fix the wing issue!! LOL Give me a call and i will see what i can do to help - 360-340-1581

If that's the case, I would take the aftermarket wing off before bringing it to the dealer.

We would be happy to look it over as well - cheaper than Barrier by a good deal.

I need a new shop... I'll probably end up over there sooner or later. Thanks!

I'm just going to have Barrier diagnose it... if my extended warranty doesn't cover it (I don't see any leaking, and I've tried grease, etc) then I'm going to buy the fixed wing mounts and get rid of all the hydraulics.

Sounds like a plan - less problems in the long run with the fixed position as well.
Swing by sometime and we can give you a tour of the shop and what we can do.

Good luck! Not sure which way is worse - can't get it up or having it stuck up all of the time.

Lol! It's a rather embarrassing problem to have. I can't go over 76mph!

Just an update... it was one of the cylinders that was ruined inside... the seals folded up or something like that. Anyhow, I found an online shop that rebuilds them for about $1000... cheaper than having Porsche do it.

Taking the whole thing apart and off the car was pretty simple.. and the fixed wing is a nice easy fix. $150 or so... not nearly as bad as the $2300 I was quoted from Barrier... and I think that was just for parts.

Anyhow, here's the link for the rebuild if anyone else needs it:

http://www.cabriolethydraulics.com/p...hydraulics.php

I'm happy to have it one place... just need the code cleared.. should be easy, just have to make my car think it's a GT2 with a fixed spoiler.
