New Baby Rolls Royce Spied in Munich Traffic
Hiding under the crude BMW 7-Series camouflage of this prototype is the upcoming new Rolls Royce entry level model internally code named RR 4 but also known as the “baby” Phantom.
The steel body's platform will share components with the new BMW 7-series, but it will be considerably longer than BMW’s flagship. The new four door luxury sedan is going to feature styling elements of its big brother Phantom, such as the rear hinged suicide back doors, a large chrome grille and the retractable hood ornament, however, compared to the big Phantom it will be lower and shorter. Release of the RR 4 is expected before the end of this decade.
Power is said to come from a 6.0 litre V12 engine making 440 bhp. Talk is also of a diesel engine being made available later on. It’s sales price is estimated between 200,000 and 300,000 Euros.

I don't like this. The purpose of a Rolls is to step up from a 7 series or S-Class. This competes with the same cars, and is in fact a 7 series with different sheet metal and a few different interior pieces probably.
The Rolls is supposed to be large and plush and ostentatious. A "baby Rolls" is going to lose to a Continental GT anyday, in fact isn't the Flying Spur just shy of being the size of a Phantom?
Oh, someone will buy this alright, someone will also be very sorry later....

As if the Phantom line-up on its own wasn't successfully enough, the Baby Phantom is now on it way (it may be called the Silver Shadow, now thats a hot name)and just having looked at EVO magazine (UK),the Baby Phantom well be BIGGER the Flying Spur which is 208.9inch's in length,it well be about thats about 218.7inch's in length which is about 300mm/30cm or 12inch shorter the base SWB Phantom 230.7inch,not bad at all. As for the whole issue with the 760LI chassis (Considerably extended and moded etc) being the chassis for the RR4 (Baby Phantom/Silver Shadow) it actually i big plus,BMW makes some of the best chassis's and engine's and dont forget BMW did a great job with the Phantom (actually Rolls did a great job,the car is a classic already) its Rolls Royce from made to toe because Rolls did everything else.
