2010 Land Rover LR4

My '04 Cayenne Turbo is getting long in the tooth and I am seriously considering leaving the brand for my daily driver. I know I will be giving up the roadhandling and the hp advantage of the cayenne. What are your opinions of the new LR4 ? TIA.

I can't comment on the LR4, but I have a LR3, It does everything, very comfortable for road trips, tows well, great on snow and ice, I've spent the last month working in the backcountry of Arkansas driving mainly on logging roads in the hills. It's been very tight with no dust getting into the interior. It has a smooth ride, and at first I thought the special driving programs were gimmicky but in the conditions needed they work. The steering at highway speeds is quick but works good off road. My big complaint the voice command doesn't like my Minnesota accent.

Thanks...How's the reliability ? Although the LR4's are made by the new owner Tata...well not made by Tata, but you get the idea...

I've got 38,000 miles on mine and it's been bulletproof. I was concerned about reliability and bought a 100'000 mile warranty. In researching issues, most of the problems were first year software glitches, It's a heavy truck so brakes are supposed to wear fast, I drive a lot of highway miles so I haven't noticed yet. The only other thing I've heard is due to the off road suspension, alignment can be an issue and should be checked every time tires are put on.

LandRover is infamous around these parts
Land Rover traditionally has had a horrible reputation for reliability... but reality is in the last few years they have actually turned that around bigtime and even have rated at the tops on some quality surveys.
