2017 Jaguar F-Type Build Thread

Hey guys, I picked up the F-Type 3 months ago and the mods are now slowly starting. The car is a bare-bones base model which is the lightest option from the factory that also gives me the freedom to mod the car to how I want it. It's a DD but will see the track occasionally too so I want a well balanced car. The plan is to do the works plus a few custom pieces; wheels/tires, springs, exhaust, tune, front splitter, rear diffuser, high fixed wing, etc...

Some inspiration taken from the GT3 Concept:

H&R springs installed

H&R 28822-1 springs installed and now sitting 1.2" lower. As far as the ride goes, it's slightly more firm than stock but has a lot less body roll and the car feels more planted. The car will go in for a good alignment in the next month or so once I get around to installing my new wheels and tires.

Wheels/Adapters delivered

As some of you Jaguar owners already know, we don't have many options on lightweight aftermarket wheels for our 5x108 bolt pattern, so I decided to go ahead and have some custom 17mm 5x120 wheel adapters made from MotorSport-Tech. I decided to stick with the 18's and found a perfect fit to run on the F-Type. I just received my new APEX EC7's in Satin Black in 18x9.5 +58 (20lbs) and 18x11 +44 (23lbs). The 17mm adapters make it a +41 front and +26 rear which should fit nicely with a set of 265/40R18 and 295/35R18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Still need to order some tires.

Thanks Jurrian! I'm just looking to break the mold on what is currently being done on these cars in hopes to expand the community.

When you mentioned custom pieces I was imaging custom forged wheels built to your specs like HRE's

Testing out the OEM R exhaust

The custom exhaust was just too loud for daily driving so I am testing out another setup. Overall it is just a little bit louder than stock. I was thinking about adding the OEM R midpipe to go along with it but after running this exhaust for a couple of weeks now and hearing it from the outside, it is definitely louder than when it was first installed and sounds great.

New wheels and tires installed

We ran into an issue with the other wheels due to stud clearance so I went a different direction. I've seen this Aston at a local car meet a few times now running this setup and it really sold me for a temporary solution:

Matte Black Niche Essen M147's 20x9 +38 front and 20x10.5 +35 (with a 17mm adapter in the rear making it +18) with Michelin Pilot Super Sports in 255/35R20 front and 295/30R20 rear. After seeing the Project 8 at Cars and Coffee Saturday, they seem to run a similar style wheel and tire combo. Wish I could be running 19's but it will work for now:

Thanks! Up until the F-Type, I would have never looked twice at the Jaguar brand but I liked the platform, took a chance, and am now building the car to my specs almost to like an OEM+ option. I'm hoping the rumors of the GT4 car will actually happen which would further extend the community and the aftermarket options.

No changes to the car this month but next up will be installing the carbon wing and diffuser and then a track day out at Chuckwalla.

Did you consider adding any channels to the rear diffuser or continuing the under panels all the way?

Yes. The next mod will be the Project 7 diffuser or a similar custom piece.
