What do you guys think of this car ( Cosworth/Subaru)?
I have been wanting to get a drag car for some time now, and this car might be a good candidate. It has a Cosworth motor which is very desirable.

I don't know a lot about Subaru's, but the people I have talked to who do have told me that this car would make a good candidate (for example the axles can handle hard launches, etc).
What do my fellow 996ers think?

looks like a nice car, but i think you'll have to redo a lot of stuff to get it set up as a proper drag car. the engine should be bullet proof, but the suspension might have to be completely redone (i could be wrong, that setup might work... but i see that stuff on more street cars than drag cars. it's probably far too stiff as is). the body kit is unnecessary (plus i think it looks dumb haha). still, it might be worth getting based on how complete the overall car is. that engine is big money compared to just about any other on the market for a Suby, and the intake manifold isn't cheap. if you go with a different car, there are several very reputable engine builders that can build a very strong engine for you for less than the cost of a Cosworth (if you're looking to save a few bucks, anyway).
if you want a comparison, i put mine up for sale for $18,000. it isn't built anywhere near what that car is, but it's also almost $30k cheaper. the price for mine is pretty typical for lightly modded STi's, so it might give you a good idea as to what price you'll be looking at for a stock or lightly modded STi that you can build yourself. i think i put mine on this site, too, so you might be able to find my for sale thread here.
the nice things about STi's is that there's a buttload of aftermarket support and large communities to help out. they've got bulletproof transmissions. they're simple cars, and most things are relatively easy to do yourself (anyone that says the spark plugs are hard to replace has never held a wrench).
a couple other places to look are NASIOC and IWSTI (personally, i stick to IWSTI). both have a ton of info on Subarus, as well as "cars for sale" sections.
sorry i can't help with too many specifics for drag cars, that isn't something i've really looked into building myself.
