I have a 996TT and feel it looks "newer" than a 997. So do my architect friends.

Note both the panamera and updated cayman....to me Porsche is going back to the 996 and are leaving the 911/964/993 round light behind. Which, to me, is an "ok" thing.

Others have recently asked me if my 996TT is the 2009 model. Anyone feel the same? That Porsche is moving back to the 996 front end direction?

I hadn't thought of it in those terms. I was thinking that they were leaving the 911 only with oval headlights so that they were uniquely identifiable, whereas the others -- Cayman, Boxster, Cayenne, and Panamera -- all have headlights that are similar to one another, and more similar to the 996. Going forward, I have a feeling that the 911 will always have oval headlights as on the 997.

I love the oval lights. They look very original of porsche since they have had round lights for many years.

Some people have noted the huge number of buttons in the 997 is off-putting. I think the quality in the 997 is higher than the 996, but the style in the 996 is more driver focused...less busy. I think too many buttons is bad. If I had a new turbo, I don't think I'd have any issues with the buttons though.
