Quote: Am I the only one that doesn't think the Panamera is overpriced (by Porsche standards, that is)? The Panamera 4S and Carerra 4S are similarly priced, as are both Turbos. In fact, there are standard features on the Panamera that are optional on other models. Charging extra for every damn thing has been going on for years at Porsche. I'm not defending it, but people are making it seem like this is unique to the Panamera.

Yes, the Panamera IS expensive compared to Audi, Mercedes, etc., but you can say that about virtually the entire lineup.

Count me in the "Panamera will be a success" camp.
The Carrera 4s competes with lets say an Sl 550 or the CL550 which are in the same price range. The Panamera is suppost to compete against the 7 series, S class and A8, which are considerabley less than the Panamera. You can buy a fully loaded new 7 series for 105k msrp and the car has more features, plus a twin turbo V8 making 400 hp. In addition the new 760li has 552 HP V12 turbo is apparently price at 135k. I am sure with all the options it will a 150k, which is still 25-30k less than the Turbo Panamera.

porsche's mistake is assuming lux buyers will pay premium for the intangibles that go into a carrera. will not happen. i will pay for my gt3 over a vette bc of the way the 3 drives esp on track. but i will not pay for partial leather interior in a $100k sedan!

i was just taken for a lapping session at limerock in an m5 where the car drifted through all the turns at an incredible angle with rocket acceleration and super fast auto shifts. no way can the pana be that much better that its worth an extra $25g.

if p cant get me to go for the pana they are in trouble.

I was thinking to buy the Panamera, but after I saw the pics, and price. No way!!!!!!!!
Just ordered my second 750Li, almost fully loaded, MSRP 104K, I got through ED for 89K,
only half the price of a fully load Panamera Turbo.

What's ED? You got $15k off MSRP on a new 2009 7 series?

ED = european delivery.

if you dont know what that is, you go to europe and pick up your car there and ship it to US. they handle all of those things and i heard it's quite simple.
only bad side about that is you wont get your car for 2 months(?) because of shipping time from europe to US.
