They'll come out with a waterdown Panamera which will sell insanely well....Panamera V6 probably. But for the topic on the higher end Panamera, it will sell. People here are buying 185k Cayenne Turbo S'. Seems weird people would spend so much on a performance SUV like that, so I see that the Panamera Turbo will easily be okay as well. It won't do as well as the Cayenne as mentioned, but it will bring in a lot of money.

People who can will go for the Turbo, people who either don't care for the power, will easily go for the S or 4S. The Mercedes-Benz CLS sells relatively well (yes it's a bit cheaper) but in comparison the Cayenne sells decently compared to the Mercedes ML. We may think it's the ugliest, but if people see that as the only bad thing, it'll still sell.

Case and point about the looks: 2009 Acura TL. I love Acura's, but even I can't really stand that car, yet it's EVERYWHERE. Somehow Acura still is selling a TON of them. The Porsche will be no different.

The low end of the Panamera range may make it, but I doubt the Turbo will sell.
at 150, it will be nice to have some exclusivity. But I do not like Bentley(too much $) or Maserati(do not like the design) Know very little about their quality or maintenance cost. Do like the CL, but that is just two door... and big

I love Porsches. The bottom line is that I keep hearing about Performance etc. Bottom line: These cars are Country Club cars. They are not GT3s. Its all about the "Arrival" There are many autos to choose from. I'm affraid that when this is parked in the parking lot at the CC and that guy with the new AM Rapide or BMW 750 parks next to it then we'll know if its working for Porsche. Its not about how fast it goes around the track. It a "I can get four set of clubs in the trunk" car. Its nothing more than that. It will replace the Cayenne in the Garage but not the 997. Am I wrong?

I don't see women going for it much...so maybe not. But it'll will probably replace any sedan in the garage and there might be a lot of Porsche families then. But I am basing it off that people probably buy Cayenne's for their wives...the whole "wife wants an SUV" and whatnot...but it's possible...I think there is someone on here already replacing his Cayenne Turbo S for a Panamera.

Cayenne Turbo, Panamera Turbo and 911 Turbo or something.

maybe I am/we are the minority here, my wife loves the car, and she does not need me to buy it for her. The car will be for both of us, but mostly for her during the week. Sometime as Taxi. ; D She does not like the Cayenne at all. I am Ok with it, but have no plan on driving one.

I do not belong to a country club, nor do I play golf. So there is no “arrival” factor. Maybe when she goes to Costco. ; D We both loves cars and industry design., so just looking for a more interesting Taxi. And prefer a car that has more character rather than a street full of, aka, S-class, 7-series, Lexus. And we are big Porsche fan.

Actually I wonder if this does become a womens market for Porsche? I never know how that works. Just read recently that BMW 6 series have almost zero female buyers. Everyone that I know with a 6 is a women. Whats up with that. Curious where this goes [M or F?] since I would rather have a Cayenne for myself over a standard 4door that is less usable. Unsure what such a car offers over any other standard sedan for real world use. There are many options to choose from with great quality and wonderful engines out there. What is truly unique from other similar autos? Looks? If this does not do well in sales will it kill you at resale? I think Id wait a bit before I bought. Watch it closely. See what other bring on to market. Many can move quickly as they already have something to base it on. Nissan could put the GTR under an Infiniti 4 door and kill the market. VW! They 911 is not a conflict to any VW product so it will be safe. This one could be. They're moving up market, slowly. In five years they may want this car out of their way. Rumor has it they may axe this and the Cayenne.

other rumors say Porsche will share the platform with other VW brands, which makes more sense. why should they axe the cayenne or the pana? it cost them billions to develop and that´s not a joke. Also, the Cayenne is already Porsche´s no1 seller.
the new spy pics of the 2nd generation cayenne look promising, looks like Porsche learned their lesson. it is more dynamic looking, less bulky. it is gonna be a huge Winner!

by the way, the panamera TT PDK is almost as fast around the Nordschleife as the 997TT MK-I 6speed and as fast in a straight line. so in many ways it is an alternative for a pure sportscar.

VW is volume. What is good volume isn't good to VW. They came into Porsche with both products already well developed and tooling set. Why did VW buy Porsche? Image. They have Bugatti as a super car and future 4 door and Rolls Royce. I think they want a new lower end sports car [as the 914 was] the 911 and the 928 to be a sports car product. They already have the Tourag which sells much better that the Cayenne world wide. I'm sure it give them I'm sure thats why they will proceed with the production of both. I can't see a second gen unless its numbers are a significant profit. I think China is the Panamera market. Not U.S. That will determine its future. Its BMWs biggest 7 series market. They'll love this car!

My wife drives a '09 CS and is in LOVE with the Panamera. I think women will drive this car in droves. In fact, it gives up very little to the Cayenne [4-seat vs. 5-seat and a little less cargo room] but gains a ton:

1. Much better tranny: 7-sp PDK vs. 6-sp slushbox
2. ~1,000 lbs lighter
3. Much faster
4. Better Fuel Economy
5. Better Braking
6. Better handling.
7. Much nicer interior

I believe, all things considered, the new Panamera is in a class by itself! Name me ONE car with it's luxury and performance that has AWD, it's cargo area thanks to the hatchback, and 6+ footers can sit in the back ALL day . . . none! I agree the styling will take some getting used to but it will be my wife's Cayenne-S replacement. BTW, we have 4-yr old twin sons and I think it will be 90% as practical and 90% more fun to drive!!

You are correct. Exactly correct.

I don't know why people even care about the track performance of these cars, they will get groceries. I'd rather show up at the CC with a 7 series frankly, at least it looks elegant.

Well here goes. If were not talking "Arrival" as being an issue. Looks as being subjective. Heres my choice for hauling the kids, dogs, and back and forth to home depot faster than any nieghbor. With one car? We'll see this soon. Its an Audi. They have put into production the RS6. Heres one car. Its a wagon!
Four doors.
5 adults. Three 6 footers in the back.
4 wheel drive.
580 HP V10 twin turbo. [from the lambo/audi owns Lambo]
479 bound ft torque from 1500 rpm thru 6250 rpm
Two intercoolers
Ceramic brakes 16.5 inches in front with 6 piston calipers
Six speed.
Steering 2.2 turns lock to lock.
Plus 20 cubic feet cargo and 58 with the seats down.
Also as a coupe.
Talk about a sleeper.
The perfect taxi. I'd go black on black. No flash. A wagon. Looks like the US may only get the sedan. Still seats 5.
I know its an audi, but looks and arrival aren't the issue. Correct?
I have others.
You think VW is watching?

BTW: If you do buy a Panamera. I recommend the Turbo because some other Mom is going to show up with the Audi wagon. It will kick butt even with 5 adults and bags and bags of groceries. Although it won't look as good to the unknowing.

We love Audi, both our cars are Audi right now. Look great, drive great. That is why we are looking for a change in flavor. Let me search and see when the RS6 is coming.
