How well do you think the Panamera will do in the US?
Sorry about that. The majority of people I've spoken to thinks its ugly. I'm actually amazed as I've asked without giving my opinoin first. I just couldn't wear an ugly suit even if it were a Hugo Boss. Could you imagine everyone thinking "why is he dressed like a clown?" Thats what I think people would say of the Panam -but never to your face. Its big dollar for something that is so visually hit and miss. Im not very popular on this Panam thread but hearing what non Porsche car people have to say on other sites, press and over dinner. I wanted to like it.
I have not heard one person off this thread say it looked good. In fact I searched "Panamera" on Flicker. Read the comments under all the photos. It gives you a good idea what people are saying in the real world outside of a Porsche Panamera Thread.
ouch... hmmmm.... ahhhh.... hmmmmm.... have to rethink my Panamera program...
Flicker photo comments gives a better perspective as to how the general public views it. Its very candid. Specific Threads such as this one are mostly people who favor the vehicle or mark. Not so with Flicker. But also take a look at comments for other cars.
What are they saying?
What is the summary? Bad I take it?
You make a good point about them being a neutral source as opposed to Porsche boards.
Damn man, I'm just asking for your recap since you've spent the time. I just went there and there are over 350 photos, that's too much time to read them all.
that is funny. Not sure I agree with that completely, it is important to see how the public is reacting to this car. If it is that bad, and Porsche have a hard time moving the products. I could wait a little and pick up one up at a good deal. I myself is on the fence on this, there are enough to like, but there are also some issues that I am concern with. For a 100 to 150 ticket, I like to be more sure than I am 50/50. I will have a better idea when I see the parking lot is line up with 5 or 6 of them.

Who want to be first in line for what might be a giant depreciating turd? We are talking some serious coin here, enough to think before leaping.
Hey I'm totally cool! My response was without attitude. I'm serious, don't go looking. We know its not pretty whats being said. Your correct theres 350 photos with 5-10 comments each beating up this car. Its amazing! And I haven't commented to one photo on Flicker. Really I haven't. I thought it would be more fun to stir it up on a Panam thread. I must be nuts.

Pretty doesn't always mean that much in a four door. Sure you don't want to own the next Aztek but it's not as important as say a coupe or convertible where it has to look sexy.
Look a Subaru's entire line up, not a pretty car to be found and yet its one of the few automakers still tuning a profit this year.
I do think Porsche shot themselves a bit in the foot with the styling but it does allow for alot more headroom in the back whereas a CLS style roof would not (hit my head trying to get into the back of one and I'm short). They could have gone more with a Rapide type of look and made it more mainstream without making the back accomodations too tight.
The Panamera will have it's buyers but I don't think there will be droves of them at this price range. Lots of great cars under 100k for people to choose from.
While I do like a pretty car, it used to be one of my main criteria but after a while it doesn't matter as much to me as long as I don't find the car nasty looking, like the afore mentioned Pontiac Aztek.
If you dive a couple hours a day you see the car from the outside for all of 5 minutes (and the panamera only has about 2 odd angles, side view and rear 3/4 are the worst). Its how you feel driving it, how it accomodates and does what you need that is important.
For those ordering one in the next year or so I highly reccommend ordering Blue, green or red with any interior that isn't black, PDCC, sport chrono, sport exhaust and turbo so I can get it off lease after 3 years.
