928 successor (based on panamera platform)
F*cking FINALLY - I'm proud of you guys for sure, I'd thought the history, legendary ***** of hastaloy-x, nerves of Ti and spirit that embodied motorsport for the small manufacturer that took it to the giants and whooped up and put themselves on the map with rule bending, flame throwing epic beasts was lost there for a bit.
Why is it 99% of Pcar guys just don't "get it"? Its refreshing to see you guys are on track and understand that Porsche's future lies in its history and the return to Motorsport in a way that Norbrut Singer would be proud of. Just imagine if they applied themselves the way they did in the hey-day of the 935, the 956, the 962...my dear sweet baby jesus the things they could do!
I agree whoever designed this one needs to replace the current designers...but taking it one step further:
Why doesn't Porsche further develop the 911 platform retaining the flat six and flipping it a la 993 GT1? It makes sense and would cure a ton of issues, while still retaining the overall platform that has benifited from 45 almost years of tuning and learning curves. I mean since its been watercooled for so long, wouldn't it be a welcome reception to have a modern day, round headlight GT1 supercar walk on the stage and reinstate Porsche as THE sportscar mfg? I'm hoping this new ownership by VW will yield something like that...but if they don't return to racing in a big way I will stop hoping and just revel in the past ignorning the current efforts besides when they're being flown by and pointing me by

I agree wholeheartedly. The first rendering looks fantastic. Very Aston at the rear. Although I fear the roof line curve will be closer to what is shown in the second [badddd] concept to accomidate the rear passenger head room. Hey Porsche, how about this: Lets see a two seater that is simply beautiful. Why sacrifice for a two-plus-two? If aston/ferrari/lambo can do it and sell all they can build why not Porsche?
I bought a 928 back in the 70s. It was a wonderful car. I also feel a good original the best used car value of all time. This will be a great come back. Hopefully we also get this in spyder form. This as a roadster would be increadible and a first [front engined roadster] for Porsche. Please no six!
I don't think they have an option. The tree-hugger lobby is extremely powerful in Germany, and after that little "close encounter of the third kind" that they had with them some time ago, Porsche has had to drink from the cool-aid bowl to remain socially acceptable.
A sad state of affairs, but reality often is.
Expect to see 6 cylinders and even turbo 4s in many of the future models.

some news, sounds like the 928 successor is pretty much on the way:

Müller (Porsche CEO) said that more than one Panamera variant was being considered.
“To have only a four-door limousine is a boring option for the future,” he stated. “You
can imagine a coupé with two doors, a longer version, maybe a van, a combi, or something
else. There are a lot of ideas about the Panamera line-up but we cannot do all of these
derivatives at the same time, and we need to look at the customers, whether they are
keen to have a derivative of the Panamera.
“We have to look at our competitors, and our internal competitors. Maybe there is a Bentley;
we have to look at whether the Porsche can fit in with the strategy there. It would be
stupid to have a car, a derivative, which substitutes, or is substituted, to 100 per cent
by another brand.”
When asked directly if Bentley’s Continental GT would affect the production decision on
a two-door 928 successor, Müller said, “Yes, of course.”
