Porsche obviously did their marketing homework well. I'd buy one if it weren't for that health care issue. No I wouldn't.

6. The dealers already sold all the launch cars
5. I bought mine from a dealer in san jose and they dont have any more
4. They are all at the track beating the competition
3. The health care bill passed the senate and we are all screwed
2. It is not fashionable to buy a Porsche these days
1. Taxes in California are too high and no one can afford one

10]For some. Theres still alot of cash out there.
9]Why? Whats wrong with them. Is it that damn EPA!! They're letting all the Prius slide through the system.
8]Thats my point. Oh no!! Its the chicken / egg thing!!
7]Note to all future Panam owners.
6]Its obvious, the rest are stuck a the port!!
5]They only got one launch car and you cleaned them out. Damn!
4]What are they racing? BMW 7s and Caddy SVTs?
3]What I save annually paying Blue Shield I'm buying two used Cayennes.
2]Or selling them. [See #5]
1]Sell the Cayenne to pay the taxes. Then buy a Panam so people can see them on the road....etc,etc.

Usually I see a new model of anything on the road around here within a week of intro. Is Porsche selling those things? Where are they?
I saw a panamera couple of days ago for the first time sitting at a restaurant - just about lost my lunch. Long nose and hunched back FUGLY

Based on your car stable (which is spectacular) it doesnt appear that you need or want a 4 door. If you did, what would you get?

See this tread for the port issue.

I do have a 4-dr. A Japanese crossover [Infiniti]. Good milage, never breaks, park it at Safeway without concern. Load it up at Home Depot. Park it anywhere in SF. Trips back and forth to So.Cal. Looks good and room for a night out with friends. Complete freedom. Wasn't costly either.

If they do the 928 like the firs post that will be one SICK car

If they do it like a chopped Panamera, well, not so much

I'd like a Panamera just to be different but it does have it's styling weaknesses, ya now like the whole back end.

I like different though so that's just me.

Wow!

You most certainly need a panamera! (except I would not recommend the hood pins)

You don't like the pins!!? Whats up with that? Its totally un-socker-mom. I have nearly 100K on this one and was looking to replace it as well as selling off a few cars. Although I'm sure it has another 100K still in it. Personally I feel its best to seporate the daily driver and the fun car. I like having a lighter / smaller car when for sport type driving. I have to admit that the FX isn't as utilitarian as I would prefer. Can't get those plywood sheets in the thing. A '87 volvo wagon would be great for that home depot run. And none of my friends would want to use it for a night out so I wouldn't need to drive. Better yet, I'll drive the 911, meet them there and leave early.

So you honestly think Porsche should be worried about trying to beat a 600 hp Viper ACR around the ring as opposed to beating up on the Viper Comp Coupe, Ferrari GT, Corvette C6R, BMW M3 GT-R, Ford GT, Panoz Es. GT and Jaguar XK in REAL RACING?

THAT IS HOW THEY EARNED THEIR NAME!!!!! Not the nurburgring, hell prior to the 996, Porsche rarely even came out with ring times. Porsche never submitted their own time for the 996 Turbo, 996 GT2 and I don't even remember seeing one for the 996 GT3 straight from Porsche everything was submitted by third party testers.

Maybe it's you who's confused but IMO Porsce know exactly what they are doing and stopping the 40 years of development on a proven chassis to start from scratch on a new to take over the whole brand line is retarded.

Porsche could easily strap a huge wing to a CGT and call it a CGT-RS and go guns blazing at the ring, but those brands need the publication, Porsche does NOT. The Viper brand was on sale at the time of that run, needed the pub for value representation. Nissan was releasing a new car worldwide, and had to use a Turbo to get anyone to pay it any attention, and they needed the pub too. So why again should Porsche be worried about ring antics when they sell the most race cars EVERY YEAR?

Porsche sold almost as many Turbos in the US through Sep. 09 than GT-R that have been sold in the US since it came out ( 2500 to 2900) and that's just the Turbo in about half the time span.

They just wrapped up their 9th out of 10 years (I think, only lost once) ALMS championship vs pretty much everything worth mentioning.

So tell me again why Porsche needs to beat the GT-R/ACR on the ring to prove anything...... And tell us how your random photoshop rendering (not by Porsche) dream picture would do anything as the flagship of the corporation. If you actually think that will work you need to go back and study the Porsche history books.

..................................

P.S. you don't care if the car did one lap and blew up?

Well that's almost what they do.
F*cking FINALLY - I'm proud of you guys for sure, I'd thought the history, legendary ***** of hastaloy-x, nerves of Ti and spirit that embodied motorsport for the small manufacturer that took it to the giants and whooped up and put themselves on the map with rule bending, flame throwing epic beasts was lost there for a bit.

Why is it 99% of Pcar guys just don't "get it"? Its refreshing to see you guys are on track and understand that Porsche's future lies in its history and the return to Motorsport in a way that Norbrut Singer would be proud of. Just imagine if they applied themselves the way they did in the hey-day of the 935, the 956, the 962...my dear sweet baby jesus the things they could do!

I agree whoever designed this one needs to replace the current designers...but taking it one step further:

Why doesn't Porsche further develop the 911 platform retaining the flat six and flipping it a la 993 GT1? It makes sense and would cure a ton of issues, while still retaining the overall platform that has benifited from 45 almost years of tuning and learning curves. I mean since its been watercooled for so long, wouldn't it be a welcome reception to have a modern day, round headlight GT1 supercar walk on the stage and reinstate Porsche as THE sportscar mfg? I'm hoping this new ownership by VW will yield something like that...but if they don't return to racing in a big way I will stop hoping and just revel in the past ignorning the current efforts besides when they're being flown by and pointing me by
