I have called 2 dealers to try and convince them to put pressure on Porsche North America and even call the Porsche hotline - nothing yet!
I assume you had the 6 speed M5? I went from an e39 M5 to a 2006 e60 M5 with SMG. I was very against a non-3 pedal car but when I drove the V10 with SMG I couldnt help myself. I had to have that car. It was so much better than the e39. Of course, I bought that car before the 6 speed M5 (without full disabling of traction control) was announced. So I guess I have given in to the technology demons full bore now that I have taken a second helping of automated manuals in the PDK. I can say that the PDK is silky smooth and makes for a very quick car. If Porsche and BMW dont give in to the three pedal demanding americans, you may only have one choice left.....the Caddy CTS-V. And based on my discussion with my Caddy salesman, even the 6 speed version of the CTS is harder to sell. The days of three pedal sedans are ratcheting down to a close.

and rightly so. DCTs are faster, more comfortable, more efficient and safer.

Hey Falb,

Think I saw your car on the m5board. Actually ended up with an SMG on a deal I could just not refuse. I regretted it everytime I was in the city - 90% of my driving. The V10 & SMG were made for track speeds and here in downtown Toronto there is no having of that. Anyhow with my short commute to work I am doing everything in my power to ensure that my next car (like all of mine before) will be another 6 speed. I know they are an ultra rare but I will simply chose with my wallet. The unfortunate part is that the choices are obviously becoming slimmer as people in North America and abroad gravitate to the 2 peddles. I am not concerned about traffic or performance I just simply love being connected to the car and no matter what I drive, PDF, DCT, SMG, etc.. I miss the 3rd pedal and I am sure many others here do as well.

I have hopes for the upcoming Cayenne S (6 speed) and maybe a future Panamera (6 speed) or the new 550i which I now know is coming in 6 speed. Atleast BMW is still listening to the dying enthusiast breed of sports sedan lovers. And to think I am still in my early 30s what will happen in decade..wikes!

Chat soon..

Joe
