Unexpected Conversations

I just came into my Panamera from a 997.2 C2S. Now, my C2S was pretty well optioned out, and, at least to me, looked damn good. I'm the type that whenever I see a 911, it catches my attention, even if for a split second.

In my mind, it's the 'true' sports cars that always garner attention from the general public.

WRONG.

I've had my Panamera for 3 days, and have met no less that 10 random people who are checking it out as I get in/out, striking up conversations with me about it. I even had an older woman (Janice was her name) stop and ask me how I liked it as we crossed paths at the grocery store (as she was getting in her old Caddy). It's just too cool when a 70+ year-old lady does a double-take on a car.

I also had what I thought was a young punk get out of his hot-rod RX-8 and snap some photos around my car while I was sitting in it on the phone. After chatting with him for a few minutes, I realized there was nothing punk about him. In fact, I was probably pretty much exactly like him when I was his age...except for the fact that I was driving a crappy Nissan Sentra and he had a respectfully upgraded RX-8.

Somehow this 'fugly Porsche' finds it's way to catch the attention of all generations and initiated some really interesting conversations between them.

3 days with the Panamera and I've had more comments about it that my 9 months with the C2S. Not bad...I'm hoping to meet more interesting people the same way: totally unexpected.

I get the same. With one exception, all are complimentary. Women at the grocery store, young drivers at redlights, interested people of all ages in parking lots, friends when they first see it ... everybody likes it, wants to look it over, admires it and seem exceedingly approving of it. It's totally different in real life than it is reading complaints on the internet. And this is just looks — can you imagine how complimentary they would be if they drove it?

Imagine that! I will come by some time, live just on the other side of Preston. Will stop by for a bite after I get the wheels/tint/interior complete next week.
