MacQ is infamous around these parts
This will only add more questions but here goes ...

My dealer said the glass is only different on the side windows. They are a multi-layer glass (no air gap though) with a laminate in between the glass sheets. This is normal for sound deadening glass and you can't notice it.

The glass is heavier but the window roller motors are not improved. Heavy window use might result in early window motor failure.

I'm still undecided about it but think it would be cool to have 3 driving choices

1) Noise glass with sport exhaust turned off - ultra quiet for talking
2) Noise glass with sport exhaust on - sports car mode
3) Noise glass, sport exhaust off, Burmester on, aaahhhhh

I was under the impression this glass helped keep heat in, but not necessarily keep heat out (i.e. better for colder climates). Plus I heard it was heavy, which the Panamera doesn't need any additional weight. Haha. But I am curious if any more experiences with this can be shared?

I have it on my PTT and I like how the car is very quiet. Since I have not had a Panamera without it I can't compare. I do find that my black/black car is not getting overly hot when sitting outside, so I do think it has a positive impact on keeping the interior cooler when sitting (but it is still hot inside).

The key benefit I find is how quiet the car is, you need to roll the window down with sport exhaust on to hear it. Talking on the blue tooth at 90 mph is no problem, much quieter than my E60 M5 was.

As far as weight goes, who cares how much it weighs, the Panamera is a big heavy car, no matter what options you have, so why not load it up with nice features and make it a great sports sedan and great luxury car? It will never be a lightweight sports car or fell like one. Enjoy it for what is really is a great luxury sedan that can haul the mail when you want it too.

It makes a big difference in the heat. First of all, I can't think of any way to have "one-way" insulation. If it keeps heat in it will keep heat out. I have had it on two Cayennes and had one Cayenne without it. Feel of the dash. It is hot without it, warm with it. Put your hand on the upper door panel. It's cool. Roll the window down so the sun can hit it. It's hot. Even after sitting in the sun for an hour, the Panamera cools off in a block or two. I live in Dallas where we have about a month of over 100° weather (at least) every summer. The Panamera is up to the challenge with the insulated glass. It also blocks road noise and wind noise. On loaner Panameras without it you'll notice the difference and want your car back. Unfortunately it also blocks radar and toll tag signals. The solution: slow down and put the toll tag in the sunroof. It works there.

Thanks for the clarification guys!

I love the insulating properties, except for blocking out the "already muted" exhaust note. But to each their own, I suppose...

My car has the insulation too, Im pretty sure all the cars with the high pitch sound and whistles have this feature.

I think as the GTS has the sound sympozer, it wouldnt affect your purchase, maybe even enhance it as tire noise is insulated? Just speculation.

Meaning only the cars with the insulation would provide an environment quiet enough for the passengers to hear the whistle?

I test drove a GTS and Turbo S last week, neither had the insulation, and I think both had the whistle. The GTS definitely did.

Good logic. Although the symposer only activates out of Comfort mode I believe (i.e. Sport and Sport Plus only).

The insulated glass option definitely does keep the interior quieter. However, in terms of heat rejection, there are better options. Here is our test:
