I did this in my 997, so this one was much easier. This is my V1 solution to the Escort and K40 hidden mounts -- best of both worlds!

1. Buy an "add a circuit" at your local Autozone

2. Open the left driver's side fuse panel.

3. Use the "add a circuit" on fuse #13, which is for park assist (5a). You don't want to use a fuse socket that has more than 10a running through it.

4. Run the cable from to the remote under the post trim and roof trim to the location that you want the V1 to be. Run the other cable under the dash to the place you want the remote to be.

Step 3 is the key. This is a circuit that operates only when the ignition is on, so the V1 is off if the car is off. I didn't want it to drain my battery when my car is parked. It took a few attempts to find one that would work with the ignition.

Here is a photo of the fuse panel. I will take a few pics of the completed install tomorrow and post them.

I chose to mount the stealth remote under the dash. It can be easily seen through the steering wheel by the driver, but no one else. From the driver's side: From the passenger's side:

Glad it was helpful. I wanted to do it in a way where there would be no holes or spliced wires in the car. Everything can be removed and the car will be just as new.

Right now I am considering moving the remote to the ashtray in the console. No smoking in my car ... and the compartment is so small it is only good to hold change. If I do, I will update the photos.

 

I found a better location (for me) for the V1 remote ... not drilling, cutting, etc... AND, the mute button is right at my fingertip!

Ok so I got the add-a-circuit from local auto parts store. Part#FHA200BP ATO
(make sure you don’t get the MINI one. It will save you an extra trip)

just to clarify…I need to clamp the wiring-harness connector from V1 to the add-a-circuit, then connect the V1 direct-wire power adapter to the wiring-harness connector that is connected to the add-a-circuit and then plug into fuse #13?

For step #3 after I remove fuse #13 park assist (5a), I replace it with the add-a-circuit…what amp fuses do I plug into the add-a-circuit? From the picture it looks like 7.5a & 5a. Is that correct?

could i just connect the positive hardwire to an unused fuse slot and jam a fuse to hold it in place?

or do i really need that add a circuit wiring?

 

Any ideas on the size of the fuses? I'm only using the V1 with no accessories and I connected a Add a Circuit with 2 - 5 Amps fuses, one that was from the ParkAssist and another 5A that I had laying around and this is working fine.

I do have a question tho, the V1 has a 2 Amp fuse already as part of the V1 Kit, on top of that we are adding 2 more 5A fuses. Do we really need more than 1 - 5Amp fuse?

Is this ParkAssist going to blow up with so many things to it?

20 dollar mount off eBay. Connects right on the rear view mirror. I wired mine up similar to the picture above.

 

I used a Blend Mount in the GT-R and other cars. Great piece and power taps right from mirror.

 

This is the exact mount I just bought on ebay ($40) . . . can you explain how you removed the plastic shroud around the rear view mirror (without breaking it) and maybe post a photo of how you connected the power cord wire ends (red and black) . . . thanks

 

I talked to the dealership technician today to ask how to remove the shroud and connect the wire. He warned against messing with the rear view mirror electonics because it could screw up the car electronics.
