Panamera Coupe More Likely Than Ever?
I agree, the rendering definitely counts as eye candy!
Another perspective...with brands like Aston Martin expanding their coupes to include 4-door, then why not P-car with a Panamera 2+2? Sounds like 928 reincarnated!

I was at the Chicago auto show last week. Porsche had some VP's present so asked about a convertible Panny in the future. The reply was "does the 750 Bimmer or S-class come as a convertible"? So then I asked about shrinking the Panamera to a coupe. The reply was "We have the 911, Caymen and Boxster for that niche". That's when he hinted that the Panamera will "only get longer" in the future.

2 door panamera will come, convertible will come. Revisit my prediction in 2 years.
Why would there be a Panny coupe? Imo, theres many of the other 2 door Porsche models that fit that need. It looks good, but I would think the market would be small for it. But who knows, Mercedes has some coupes. It's really up in the air
My personal opinion is that if they made a Panamera coupe (a GT-type of car) with the same setup as the Panamera but with 2 doors and a hatchback, it would be a direct competitor to the Bentley Continental GT (price, options, power, etc...) and would be a hit. A convertible variant would also be a hit...there is a market segment where this would fit nicely; Aston DBS, Continental GT, Maserati Granturismo, etc...not pure sports cars, but grand touring cars, and the 50+ crowd that doesn't want to sit as low and have as rough a ride as a 911 will love it. Just my 2 cents.
He made some valid points. He went into the whole "4-door 911" spill and which point I laughed but I got his point. He said by shrinking the car they would only be "competing against themselves" and with a new 911 on the way it wouldn't make sense. At the end of the day only time will tell, just sharing what I was told from this VP. How high up he is or not is none of my business or concern. He was polite and took the time to answer my questions.

* More spacious & luxurious than the Sports Car 911 models
* a true competitor to the CL-class, but with a sportier drive (when wanted)
* a Bentley Continental GT competitor, but at a lower price point (as to not step on VW family toes)
* shouldn't be too $$$ to develop as the platform already exists
I'm sure there is more than enough of a market for a large(r) 2-dr with decent rear-seat space. Whether or not it will happen is to be seen (maybe 2nd-gen?), but I'm one that would seriously consider it. I certainly don't want a CL, can't afford a Conti GT, am a Porschephile for life, but have a difficult time justifying a 911. A 2-dr Panamera would be the PERFECT solution, even though my heart would still yearn for a 911.
