Newbie PTT questions

Have had the PTT with powerkit for a few days now. Already I have a few questions I didnt find in the owners manual:

-What is the button on the bottom of the steering wheel, behind it?
-Can you make the mirrors fold automatically when locking, or do you always have to keep the lock button pressed?
-Can you switch the arrival headlamp delay to off? I could only get it 10s?
-What is the peak boost you have seen in your turbo?

I really love the car. There is virtually no turbo lag and it is really comfortable. It feels equally fast as the 997tt, which I really like.

Kip, the button behind the steering wheel is the heated wheel option. Turns it on or off. The other options I don't think are possible. Boost wise I'll take it for a ride today and report back.

Kip, how do you like the powerkit? Do you feel a big difference?

This a hard question for me to answer. I came directly from a 997TT tip to the powerkit PTT, I never testdrove anything else than the 4S. The power delivery is instant, I can only compare it to the kompressor E55 AMG I had once. In the 997TT after you mashed the throttle, nothing happened for a second, then tremendous boost, but the wait was quite irritating. In the PTT there is really no lag!

The car is so quiet and relaxed, that I had to reassure that it is fast, you dont feel it like in the rock hard, noisy 997TT.

After I did the mandatory drive in period I tried one run with the vbox on short closed road with asphalt and quite a lot of sand here and there, so traction is compromised. I got a 0-100km/h in 4.1s with one try and a poor 0-60km/h of 2.3s. The best I could get (with a lot of effort) the 997tt ever was 4.0-4.2sec 0-110km/h, but the 0-60 km/h time was 2.0, so this would mean that 3.6-3.7s 0-100km/h is quite obtainable, if one doesnt care about wheels like I do =).

This is one fast car!

Thanks for this. Was afraid to press it, as the last time I pressed a similar button I didnt recognize, the newely waxed car was sprayed full of washer fluid from the headlamps!!!

I tried the overbost today from about 20-100km/h and it shows an orange arrow, when it is activated (I think) and I got it to show 1.0 for a short time, but mostly 0.8 and below. As the 0-100km/h 4.1s on my first try shows the car has a lot of power, including a lot of wheelspin, so I suspect these are the values that should be expected. I have not seen anywhere how much boost are the turbos running in the powerkit/turbo S, but I have seen max 1.0 in my car. I suspect the extra power in the powerkit is coming also from elswhere than only the turbos.

Found this on the internet about PTTS:

http://business.inquirer.net/11769/p...o-s-and-diesel

The 4.8 liter 4-cam direct injection V8 engine is similar to the regular Turbo, but utilizes a new Titanium/Aluminum Compressor Wheel and shaft developed by Porsche and supplied by Mitsubishi Turbo. The new compressor wheel weighs 50 grams less but offers much-improved flow dynamics, allowing the turbochargers to flow more air at lower wheel RPM and to spool-up and hit the target 1 bar of boost in half the time as the regular turbochargers. In doing so, the Panamera Turbo S uses the same amount of fuel as the Panamera Turbo but achieves an increase of 50 horsepower and 50 Newton-meters of torque in Sport Plus over-boost mode, the net output being 550 hp and 800 Newton-Meters of torque.

The funny thing is that when I am doing 120km/h with the cruise control, the turbo boost is 0.1 bar almost constantly, is this the case in the stock PTT? One would think that on a long journey the turbos would get quite hot. This then again doesnt go with the start-stop function. I like to cool my turbos!

Kip, mostly 0.8 and below. Maybe 1 nanosecond at 1bar.

This is just a couple tries, not for a long time either.

Thanks for the info.

OK seems similar to the Powerkit values, so it doesnt then ad to max boost. Wierd.
