How to clean PTT Exhaust Tips?

My 2010 Carbon Grey PTT exhaust tips are dirty. Whats the best way to clean these? Do you clean the inside too or is it just brushed nickel part?

Local car wash that does detailing would not touch the exhaust - they were worried about damaging it..

Are they pitted or just dirty. If they are flaking off some of the coating they will be replaced under warranty as mine were.

Here is a picture of pitted tips. Don't even ask why I kept pictures of these things. The second picture is after wire brushing - that didn't help.

Mine don't look so bad. I don't think they are pitted but have black carbon residue on them.

It seems we PTT owners think alike and I have my pics too. Scary. This seems to be only sport exhaust problem. The tips are usually very hard to keep clean in any car, but this is how they looked like before changing. On the 997tt I just cleaned and polished them, but there were black stains remaining.

1. Here is a 6speedonline exhaust cleaning guide. Maybe this helps, I think its the best one of these:

2. Here are some videos, they all seem to be similar:

Can't tell. Does the PTT have painted black inside? Or is it all carbon deposit?

Thanks for links.
